I had finally managed to fall asleep, the clouded darkness taking me in as I closed my eyes.

It had been nearly a year since my mom left us, telling my dad that she couldn't help him anymore, but that she dearly loved him. My brother and I never really know why she left, just that one day when we both woke up, we found dad crying on the couch, his hair a mess. After he had told us that mom left, my brother and I both had a hard time, and we both still do. Dad always thought it was something he did, beating himself down that he was never home to help with us. My dad was lawyer, a good one too, and sometimes I hated it. Whenever Noah and I tried lying about something, he would figure it out, he had one good memory for a man like himself.

"Skyler." My dad said making me look up as I had a large spoon full of Mac-and-cheese ready to go into my mouth.

"Pumpkin, I know you're going to hate me for this, but we're going to be moving." He said and I literally dropped the spoon of food, jaw dropped on him. The one thing I remember when my mom left was that dad said we would never be moving

"Ha, funny dad." I said picking up the spoon of food and placing it in my mouth and looking at him, he just frowned.

"Sky, I'm not joking." He said reaching forward and stealing some of my food.

"Hey!" I said with a mouth full of food and he just laughed. But I blinked a few times before I swallowed.

"Why are we moving?" I know it was a stupid question but I needed to know a good reason.

He sighed and rested his elbows on the counter. "Look sweetie, daddy got a really big job in California and its going to pay daddy a lot of money." He said tilting his head to side, his green eyes looking right at me.

I raised a eyebrow at my dad, confused on why he kept on saying daddy but I just shrugged it off and got a large spoon full ready. "Does Noah know about this?" I asked.

Noah was my younger brother, just being two years younger than me, teachers all know him as the 'Oaks sister' which drove him crazy, it was kinda funny. He was a shy kid which was okay, he was still popular.

"I was just about to tell him. Noah!" My dad yelled. It was quiet for a little before you heard foot come racing up the stairs.

I was ready to see Noah come walking into the room but instead, I saw Chip, he was smiling, his hands crossed over his chest. "C-Chip?" I said, looking back to see my dad but he was gone. I looked around for him, but he was gone, like he was never there.

Chip just chuckled. "Aw, does poor Sky miss her daddy and brother?" He said sticking his lower lip out.

"How cute." He said as he got closer. I quickly leaped off the chair and raced behind the counter. I peeked over the edge to see if Chip was still there, but he was gone. My heart picked up speed as I started to shake.

"Daddy.." I said looking around, the house seemed empty. That was when I felt hot breath on my neck and I froze, whimpering. I slowly turned around to meet his eyes, they looked like they were smiling.

"Your helpless." He whispered.

I bit my lip and backed up into the counter. "No one's going to find you, no one cares about, it's your fault that Izzy's dead." He said as he got closer. It felt like he was getting bigger.

He then leaned in, his nose just inches from touching mine. He then brought his hand up and touched my cheek, the tears starting the slip. He just smiled.

"Don't cry, princess." He said whipping the tears away.

"Your mine, and no one well take you away from me." He said, his hand running down my arm in a spider motion. He then leaned forward, his eyes closing and his cold lips getting closer and closer to mine.

"Skyler! Skyler!" Someone kept on yelling but I couldn't figure out where or who it was coming from. I closed my eyes, whimpering as Chip's breath got closer and closer to mine.

"Skyler! Wake up!" The voice yelled again. Just when I opened my eyes, Chip's lips connected with mine and the whole world just went spinning.

I woke up gasping for breath, my hand moving to my heart and I felt a few tears fall. My body was shaking hard like I had just came out of ice cold water. I nearly screamed when someone touched my shoulder.

"Hey, it's okay." The scratchy voice said making me turning around to meet gentle eyes looking at me. It was just Luke. I swallowed and lowered my head.

"Did you have a nightmare?" He asked and I bit my tongue.

"Why are you asking that?"

"Um, your were kinda shaking, crying and mumbling someone's name." He said lazily pointing a finger at me. I just turned my back to him, rubbing my hand across my cheeks.

"Sky, are you okay?" Luke said after a few minutes of silence.

"Shouldn't you be asking yourself that?" I said turning to look past my shoulder.

The marks that Forest had left were see able. He had one large mark on his left cheek and when I said that, he just licked his lips.

"Sorry for asking." He said looking away. I lowered my head.

"Luke, I didn't mean to be rude, I'm sorry." I said looking at him.

He never answered me. With his back turned towards me, I pulled myself into a corner. I wanted to fall asleep but I was afraid of having another nightmare so I just looked at the cage door. It was just like when we are all in those small cages before we were sold, but this time, there was one person missing.

"Forest!" A loud voice came from upstairs making me jump from my daydreaming, looking around. Luke heard it too, he was sitting up.

"Where is she!" The voice demanded, and I know the voice quickly as Chip, he sounded pissed.

"I have no idea who you're talking about." Forest's voice said. I could just picture him smiling at that moment.

"If you don't tell me where she is, you're going to wake up in your grave!" Chip shouted. I was kinda worried now.

Forest just chuckled. "Fine." I heard what sounded like keys. "See that closet right there, open it and your little pet may be down there." He said laughing.

I heard Chip curse at him and soon, the floor started to creak. It got closer and closer, until I heard a fate click of a lock. Soon a line of light come from the stairs and I heard Chip say a few choice words before I saw his shadow start to come further down the stairs.
