52 – Looks like rain

Approaching the Cherubim landing zone, kindled and invisible, the Seraphim soon picked out Jango with their Far Sight. He leaned over a body lying in the grass. Fereshte recognised Ecad's young Edon friend, Benji, from the Cherub cloud feed. Borak sat on a bench nearby, his eyes tightly closed in deep meditation while Jango searched through the sleeping boy's pockets.

Fereshte landed behind Jango, and, using Ecad's new Quintessence upgrade, reverted to her last Edon form – an ancient princess – ensuring her robes were fundamental and unobtrusive this time. She decided to remain invisible after morphing for a while, watching Jango rifle Benji's jacket, stopping at a pocket at the front – partially burnt away.

Fereshte could contain her curiosity no longer and made herself visible. Sofiel floated beside her, still kindled in Seraph form.

"What are you doing, Jango?"

He jumped in surprise, a guilty look on his face.

"I-I was looking for a missing C-token. I saw Benji pick one up before he was swept into the O-zone. We need to retrieve it."

This made sense to Fereshte and she nodded.

"Where's Sofiel?" said Jango.

"I'm here," a voice said from thin air.

"We thought it best for her to stay kindled – it saves on tokens. Where's Cylvah?"

"She's checking out a lead that could bring us the last Gift part – a place called the House of Ten. It could be Sofiel's Tenth House."

"Umm, it's not quite the same..." said Sofiel from behind Jango. Her disembodied voice seemed to unnerve him. Fereshte found it amusing.

"... and isn't the House of Ten where the powerful Edons meet?" Sofiel said. "That sounds dangerous."

"It's just a recon mission. She won't go inside or anything, just spy on the building and report back. If she sees any Gift pieces or even a Gift Shrine, she'll tell us and we can go there and grab one, finally finish this mission."

"What do you mean the last Gift part?" Sofiel said, "Did Cylvah catch the piece she was chasing? She's turned off her cloud feed."

"Um, yeah. I have it in my pocket."

"Good for Cylvah! It must've been difficult," Sofiel said.

"She did all right," said Jango.

"So now we have two pieces. I wonder what they do," Fereshte mused.

"What did your tracking wasp find out?" Jango said changing the subject.

"We got some data but my tracker stopped working," said Sofiel.

"Luckily, I had one too," Fereshte said. "It won't get as close to Kaleb as Sofiel's did, just keep its distance and follow him if he moves. When Borak is ready, we'll play what we have through the cloud feed."

All three gazed at Borak's handsome Edon face. Suddenly his eyes opened and he looked up into the sky. "Looks like rain," he said.
