"Oh God. I'm so sorry."
"Can you just stop apologizing already?" Paul sighs and leans his head back.
Of course, my natural instinct is to apologize again. Luckily, I manage to stop myself.
"My wife cheated on me three or four months later. I don't know. I've lost track of the days that have gone by."
I nod, not trusting my voice. Paul looks over at me, tears shining in his eyes.
"How am I supposed to learn to love again if everyone I've ever loved has deserted me?"
I've decided that later this year, once I start college, I'm going to try vegetarianism.
