"I'm here for a reason"

I ran down the hallway, looking for my homeroom. Who knew new schoold would be so hard? I finally found the room I was looking for, sitting in my empty seat. I looked to my right, seeing Vencint not there. I smirked a little to my self.
"Ms. Bayou, could you kindly explain to me why you are late?" Mrs.Jackson asked me.
" I uhm... I had to take medicene this morning. I couldnt open the bottle." I partially lied. I was late because of my so called paranoia. I wasnt able to sleep last night. Thanks alot, Merman. But when I took my antibiotics this morning, it made me twice as late as I would have been.
"Sure, Ms. Bayou." Mrs. Jackson rolled her eyes. Some kids snickered, and I just wondered where Vencint was. I still hated him, but that doesnt mean I cant wonder. Then I finally got it: Vencint was suspended. I wouldnt blame the school board.
Suddenly, the whole classroom fell quiet. I looked up from my hands, seeing the very familiar face. Cole stood in front of the room, looking straight at me. Is he going to kill me?
I sunk in my seat as the teacher ran up to introduce him to everyone.
" Class, this is Cole Williams. He just moved here a while ago. Cole, you can sit next to Ariadne over there." Of course. Cole slowly made his way, and sat in Vencints seat.
Jessie finally made an appearence, walking in the door.
" Late again, Mr. Bayou?" Mrs. Jackson scowled. Jessie ignored her, and sat in his seat in front of me.
" What are you doing here?" I asked Cole, twisting around to face him.
" I had to make sure you didnt tell anyone." He retorted.
" I told you I wasnt going to tell anyone; they will think I'm insane."
"Whatever." He rolled his blue eyes and stared down at his fingers. The bell rang, and I shot up feom my seat, and ran down the hall to geometry. One thing I noticed, was that Jemma wasnt here. I looked around the room, seeing the only 2 open seats were me and Jemmas. I sat down, taking my note book out and jotting down notes.
I felt the table shake a little, and looked over to Cole.
" wow, am I not surprised." I mumbled to myself. As soon as the teacher walked in, I raised my hand.
" Mrs. Bayou?"
"May I please use the restroom?" I asked, twisting in my seat to make it look like I had to go.
" But class just started-"
"Thank you!" I ran out of the classroom, hurrying down the hall to the girls bathroom.
I planned on waiting the whole period out, just waiting for the bell to ring. I took out my phone from my back pocket, checking to see if there was any text messages.

Febuary 6th we will come. Be ready, Ariadne. I sighed, shoving the phone back in my pocket. I heard a group of girls coming in, and I imediatly ran into a stall.
"Did you see that new kid? Cole Williams?" A girl asked.
" Uh huh. He doesnt even talk to anyone." Another scowled.
" Talks to that new girl- Ariadne. I saw her brother- that really hot dude-" I almost gagged. "-he like, threatened to beat Cole up! Like seriously, what has he ever done to him?"
I sighed in exasperation, taking out my phone again. Once the girls left, I dialed Jessie.
" Hello? Um.. this isnt such a good time right now..." jessie led off.
" Why did you threaten him?" I asked. "You dont have to be such a bully all the time." Sure, I guess I could be a little of what jessie did. I dont know how much longer I could take the weird stalker shit.
" He was following you. Plus, you did look pretty annoyed." Jessie explained. I could practically hear the smirk on his face.
" Whatever. I can handle my own problems. Good bye, Jess." I hung up quickly, hearing the bell ring just on time. I went to exit the bathroom properly, that is... until I bumped into Cole. I threw my book at him, and screamed.
"Ow, Aria!" He covered his face, giving me a stern look.
" Sorry... and stop following me!" I gave him a rough push.
" Why are you avioding me? I'm a merman, not the lockness monster." He murmured.
" What?! The lockness monster is real too?!" I gasped. He rolled his eyes.
" No.... okay, maybe." He stared at me. Than cracked a smile. " No, they dont exist."
I released a shaky breath. God, am I stupid.
" Well, can you please stop following me? I release you of your.... fishy duties. Go back to King Neptune." I snapped, walking down the hall. Cole grabbed my shoulder, and pulled me into a janitors closet.
" First of all, it king Posiedon, not Neptune," he corrected. "Second of all, you can't release me. I'm here for a reason, just part of it is because I have to make sure you don't tell anyone."
I tried to let that all sink in. "For some reason, I cant help but believe your not here because you need some.... landly education." I scowled. He smirked, and shoved his hands in his pocket.
"No. I'm here to protect you." He said.
My jaw dropped as I threw my hands up in exasperation.
" I dont need protecting! Uhg, you and jessie! Can you guys just leave me alone?" I kicked a bucket, but only hurt my toe. " OW!" I held my foot in my hand, examining it.
" You dont get it, Aria."
"Dont call me that." I hissed.
" Fine, Ariadne." He paused, taking my foot in his hand. "Your fine. Aria- Ariadne, I have been sent by the Sea Council to make sure your safe... due to your-how should I put this- gift. Or some put it- curse." He gave me a stare.
" Thats it. Your crazy." I went for the door handle, but something clicked inside of it. I jiggled the door handle, but couldnt open it. I crossed my arms, and turned to Cole.
" I am sorry, you wouldnt stay." He apoligized. My phone buzzed, and I pulled it out of my pocket.
Unknown: we speak english and Greek, my dear.
I grumbled a little, and Cole looked at me with concern.
" Who are you communicating with?" Cole asked, snatching my phone out of my hand. He gasped. "Did you tell anyone about this?" He asked.
" Um, no." I reached for my phone, but he held it out of my reach. "Give it back!"
"No. We have to go to the Sea Council. Your in grave danger." When he unlocked the door, I darted around him, and ran to the lunchroom. I knew I could get lost in the crowd, and he wouldnt be able to find me.
I found Jessie in the corner with a small group of guys. I ran over to him, and shied on his side.
" Aria- what-"
"Shut up." I hissed. His buddied were to busy talking to notice me there. Jessie stayed quiet. I spotted Cole looking around for me in the crowd, and eventually gave up and left.
" Oh my god, he left." I sighed.
" Whats wrong, Ariadne? Who left?" He asked with concern. I thought about how to answer. I cant tell him it was Cole.
" Vencint," I lied. He groaned, and stood up. " Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. Where do you think your going?" I asked.
" To kick his ass."
"No!" I protested. He gave me a weird look, and I tried to come up with something as fast as possible. " Uhm, you'll get suspended. Just stay; if you get suspended, thats bad for your reputation. We wont be able to get an apartment." I explained.
He finally sat back down.
