My name is Elizabeth Kane and all I have ever known is the Ark. I have never felt the earth beneath my feet or had the chance to breathe in fresh air. I have never seen the bright colours that cover the earth's surface, all I know is grey.
After a nuclear war 97 years ago, the human race was forced to leave to avoid extinction. We now live in a space station that orbits Earth, waiting for the right time to return home.
However, I know I will never get to see the evergreen forests, or the crystal clear waters that haunt my dreams. I am stuck in space, what people once dreamed about getting to. Ironic, huh?
Every crime committed on the Ark is a capitol crime, and if you are caught you are floated. You are released from the airlock and flung into space. That is my destiny. If you are above 18 you are floated, but if you are under 18 you are taken to the skybox, and left here until you turn 18 where you are reviewed to decide if you are to be floated. I know I will be. I committed an unforgivable crime. I'm now just counting down the days to my death.
