How To: Make An Original Character

Can we please stop with the messy buns? I'm begging you. Have you actually tried to do a messy bun on yourself? It looks like dog shit on your head.

Have you character have multicolor hair, or at least something that isn't blond or dirty blonde. You know what, you don't even really need to describe your character's appearance in detail. Let the reader imagine what the character looks like (unless there is an important feature which the reader needs to know about)

Another thing, can characters actually have flaws? Are they all supermodels? Can they have acne? Or dry skin? Or eyes that squint when they smile? Or wonky teeth? What about a stomach that sticks out a bit? Or thighs that jiggle when they run? Or one really manky toenail that grosses everyone out?

Make your character relatable to people, and nobody is perfect which means your character can have a few *gasps* flaws.

Its not wrong to have a beautiful character but try and change things up. Have a plus size character who is a straight up 10/10. Or a skinny character who has really big feet. Or have a guy that doesn't have a six pack and biceps to die for.

Stop the clichés.
