Some authors like to leave a lasting message with their reader, and have the reader take the story as advice on how to live their life.

The easiest way to have a moral at the end or in your story is to pick a moral that is easy to understand and very broad such as 'be kind to everyone' or 'accept everyone'.

The way you can really highlight these morals is through your characters. Most writers that want to have morals in their stories usually make their character do the opposite of the moral and then learn from their mistakes.

For example, let's say the moral of the story is to accept everyone, the main character could be extremely racist or homophobic at the start of the story and then learn the error of their ways.

Subtlety is the key, and you want the reader to subconsciously learn from your book rather than just throwing it in their face.

Using your characters as either role models or examples of how not to act will make your story hold some moral.
