"Hey! Mia!" Someone shouted behind me. I stopped, and turned around. Sam came up to me, seemingly out of breath.
"Hey Sam," I smiled. He smiled back.
"I got some answers." He said, obviously proud of himself. That was good news.
"Thanks," I said. "So?"
"Well, Edgar said they'd do anything to protect someone who needed help." He said.
"With," I whispered the next part, "vampires?" Sam rolled his eyes.
"Sure, yeah. But, you do know vampires aren't real, right?" He said, as if it was obvious. Okay, maybe it is. At least to people who have no idea.
"Okay, did you find out anything else?" I asked. He sighed.
"I tried. But Edgar asked why I was all the sudden asking. 'Cause, I can't all the sudden, out of nowhere, believe I'm in danger of, you know, since I was so in denial about it the other day." He said. I laughed a little. Sounds about right.
"Well, thanks anyways. I'll just have to try again," I said. "Bye, Sam."
"Bye,"

I walked into the Frog Brothers' store, and as soon as I started to look briefly at a comic, someone said, "get out!"
It was obviously Edgar. Alan never seemed to talk much. "I need your help," I said simply.
"No. Get out," Edgar said, seriously. "We won't help you."
"But what if I told you it was about..
You know..." I tried. Edgar was still unwilling. I could tell, by the look in his eyes. But Alan spoke up.
"Are you just going to keep asking us questions?"
"No. I mean, I will eventually, because I'm still not sure how this whole thing works," did they believe me? I hope so.
They were silent for awhile, but then Edgar said, "Okay. We'll do it."

"Mia," David said. I knew what he wanted.
"I'm working on it. I have to get them to trust me. It'll take a little time," I said quietly.
"We do not have time," He replied. He said nothing else. Just stared at me.
"Okay," I said, unsure. "I'll do my best."
David walked away without a word.
