Dan opened his eyes and yawned, momentarily unsure of what had woken him. He realised a second later when PJ's smirking face appeared at the end of his bed. Dan jumped.

"Peej! You nearly gave me a heart attack, you idiot!" He threw a pillow at the curly hair poking up over his duvet.

"Ah well, I thought you might need waking up for today and what do you know? I was right."

"Today?" Dan began. "What happens to- oh crap."

"Aren't you going out for coffee with Philip?" PJ asked.

"Well."

"Something's happened, hasn't it. I can see it in your eyes."

"Peej, stop. Nothing happened."

"Are you sure?"

"No."

"Do you want to tell your uncle PJ?"

Dan winced. "That's the creepiest thing you've ever said, and no."

"Daniel... You were up on the roof with him until one in the morning, and then I heard you crying in your room for almost an hour. What happened?"

Dan sighed, resignedly. "You might want to sit down in case I need to burrow my face in your shoulder," he said.

"With pleasure." PJ sat down next to Dan. "I'm listening. Fire away."

Dan started to tell PJ the story. He was intending to start from their picnic on the roof, but he somehow found himself going backwards and starting at the first time he saw Phil, to the time Phil showed him the roof garden, to the time he was comforting Phil as he cried into his shoulder. By the time he got to the kiss he was on the verge of tears.

"-and he texted me saying 'we need to talk' and I think he's angry, but I don't want to lose him," Dan finished. "I don't know what to do, Peej. I've ruined everything."

"No you haven't," PJ answered, hiding the amusement in his voice at seeing Dan so vulnerable when it was clearly unnecessary.

"I have!"

"I'm sure you'll figure it out. You two have something special, clearly, and even if he doesn't like you like that, I don't think he'll be willing to throw away your entire friendship over something as small as this."

"We've known each other for two days, PJ."

"But you said yourself, he's a better friend than anyone else you've ever met."

Dan smiled. "Fair enough."

They sat in silence for a few minutes, before Dan suddenly stood up. "I've got to go."

"Where are you meeting him?"

"Rialto, in fifteen minutes."

"Oh. I'll leave then, shall I?"

"Good idea."

"Good luck, Dan." PJ said as he left.

"Thanks."
