Troye had left an hour or so later, claiming that he didn't want to worry his mom too much. Connor understood, promising Troye that he'd text him if anything changes with Peter and Kathy.
Within minutes of Troye leaving, Connor heard the voices Kathy and Peter downstairs talking and... laughing?
No no no Connor thought. They're not supposed to be laughing, they're supposed to be fighting. Maybe even get a divorce.
Hesitantly, Connor walked out of his room and down the stairs. He was hoping he'd receive some good news. Maybe Kathy and Peter were going to separate. Maybe they decided not to move.
When Connor reached the kitchen, however, he saw Peter and Kathy looking at the laptop, pointing at things on the screen.
"oh this one is 5 bedroom, 2 and a half bath!" Kathy commented.
Connors heart sunk. They were going to move, weren't they?
"...Dad?" Connor walked over to the married couple, noticing the list of houses currently occupying the screen of Peters laptop.
"Oh hi Con!" Peter smiled, fixing his glasses as he turned to his son. "How are you?"
"I'm fine... what are you guys looking at?" Peter sighed at Connor question, feeling bad that he had to deliver this news to his son.
"Listen, Con... Kathy and I talked," Peter looked at his wife, she flashed him a quick fake smile. "We decided that we are going to move, but somewhere close by. That way you're still at the same school and close to your friends and mom."
Sure, Connor was a little pissed that he had to leave behind his childhood home, but at least he wasn't moving out of the town.
"That's... thank you."
Connor was about to turn around and leave, but Kathy had to stop him.
"So who were you talking to upstairs?" she asked, folding her arms and giving Connor a knowing look.
"I...What are you talking about?" Connor fiddled with his fingers. "I was on the phone."
"With who?" Peter asked, taking suddenly taking interest in the conversation.
"My friend, Troye Mellet."
"Mellet?" Kathy asked, seeming shocked and confused at the same time.
"Yeah..." Connor trailed off, moving slowly towards the door. "Listen, I have plans to meet up Hannah at Sugg's Ice Cream," and without another word, Connor was out of the door.

Once he arrived to Sugg's, he saw the short blonde hair girl sitting on a nearby bench, however, she wasn't alone.
Hannah turned around to see Connor, her smile widening.
"Connor!" She shouted, getting up from her seat next to Ingrid. "How have you been? We haven't talked since the mall!" She wrapped her arms around Connor, hugging him as if it were the last time she'd ever hug him.
"I've been good! I have a lot to tell you!" He followed his best friend over to the bench, giving a quick hello to Ingrid.
"So, I have some news," Hannah started out, grabbing Ingrids hand. "Ingrid and I are finally together!"
"I thought you two were already dating?" Connor raised his eyebrow in confusion.
"well it wasn't official, but now it is!" She exclaimed. Hannah was truly happy, and Connor loved that. He loved seeing the people he cares about most be happy. It's what happens when you're a people pleaser.
