Sorry for the long wait! I'm both physically and mentally beating myself over this!

WARNING: It may not be that good because I had a bit of writer's block!

Chapter 30. Aftermath-

The clouds in the sky had not helped the feeling of emptiness that came about when Yuzuki's gaze landed on the Hokage's coffin. There were many others alongside his; they had all lost their lives in the attack.

Her eyes were glassy from her unshed tears, this was not the time to cry, nor was it the time to keep her pride. She let her head fall, her silver locks covering her face so that no one would see.

She clenched the white rose in her hand so hard the stem broke and the flower went limp. A soft breath escaped her lips as she felt a warm hand cover her own cold one, the feeling spreading through her body. It was comforting.

Looking through a gap in her hair, she got a glimpse of Sasuke standing next to her. His usually striking facial features were dull, it seemed as if we was upset about the old man's death, too.

She did not know why the Hokage's death upset her so much, she barely knew him, yet she felt such sadness towards his loss.

Yuzuki leaned in closer to the raven haired Uchiha, his warmth emanating to her and calming her down. After what seemed like forever they lined up to place the cream colored flowers on the Hokage's coffin, the candle blew out with a strong gust of wind. Her hair flew around her face, concealing the pain in her eyes as she gently placed the broken flower on the coffin atop the hundreds of others.

They stood in silence, no one made a sound, and then the soft sobbing of child made its way to her ears. Turning her head, she her eyes landed on a dark haired boy, his face covered by his arm as he wiped away his tears. It was Konohamaru.

It was painful to watch him cry, so she turned away and stared at her feet. A droplet of water hit the grass just above her feet, and for a moment she thought it was a tear. Until more water made contact with the earth and she was grateful that it had not been her tears.

It seemed as if the sky was grieving the deaths of the Shinobi who gave their lives for the village, too. The rain soaked her hair, and her clothes, making the fabric cling to her skin like an extremely tight shirt.

When she stepped out of the hospital that day, she had not expected to go to a funeral. Sasuke wanted her to stay in the hospital without any worries, she would have been angry, but if it was him in the hospital she would have done the same.

Now they were leaving the graves of the fallen, going back to their homes where they would grieve alone, and go on with their lives as shinobi.

Sighing, Yuzuki plopped down on her back, her body still shivering from the cold even though she was covered in her blankets.

She didn't want to be alone, not with these feelings all bottled up inside of her. So, she threw off the covers and slammed her window open, leaped off the ledge and ran towards the training grounds.

When she had reached the training grounds, she found Neji sparring with a tree stump, splinters flew off the bark with every strike of his gentle fist.

Sensing her presence, the lilac eyed boy turned his head, his eyes narrowing slightly. "What are y-"

"No talking, let's just train." The Hatake got into her battle ready stance, one foot shifted slightly forward. The boy asked no questions, getting into his gentle fist stance two feet from her position.

Without warning, Yuzuki lunged forward, her fist connecting with Neji's palm. Each kick and swing was blocked by Neji's gentle fist, and each blow from the boy was blocked or dodged.

This went on for hours, until Yuzuki became exhausted and couldn't go anymore.

"Thanks, Neji." She breathed before leaning forward, her eyes rolling to the back of her head. Neji caught her in one quick motion, scooping her up in his arms, and letting her head rest on his shoulder.

Neji wanted to ask her what was wrong, but it was too late now, and he didn't want to wake her up.

This wasn't how he planned this evening to go, but she came along and changed his plans.

The lilac eyed boy shifted the girl in his arms until she was resting her head on his chest, and left the training grounds to take her home.

He paid no mind as the villagers gave the two strange looks. It was like they hadn't seen this before. Neji quickly jumped up onto a nearby rooftop, almost losing his balance because of the extra weight in his arms. As he stepped forward, there was a small tug on the front of his shirt and he glanced down at the girl in his arms.

"Don't take me home, I want to go somewhere else." She whispered, wriggling out of his grasp. He lead her to the top of the Hokage mountain. They stood silence for the longest time, until Neji broke the sweet silence.

"If you don't mind me asking, what were you so worked up about?" The lilac eyed boy questioned her, his eyes looking out over the village where the glow of the lights slowly became dim as the night grew darker and the stars and moon came out.

"It was nothing... I just needed to let out some steam." Neji nodded, knowing that she was lying. But he decided to let her have her peace.

The sun was just rising over the horizon when Yuzuki made it back to the Hatake compound. Her father was asleep on the couch, Icha Icha was resting atop his face, so that his face was completely covered by the book.

Yuzuki stepped lightly past him and into her room, since she wasn't tired, she decided to change into a new outfit and wandered into the kitchen to find food. There wasn't much in the fridge, or in the cabinets, but she found cereal and she grabbed the milk carton and poured the substance over the flakes.

She sat there and ate silently for the next few minutes, the sound of her muffled chewing echoing through the room.

There was the sound of a book closing and the couch creaked, she turned her head to find Kakashi standing in the doorway to the kitchen.

"Have a nice nap?" She asked, although it was muffled because of the cereal in her mouth.

Kakashi grimaced at the food in her mouth. "Don't talk while there's food in your mouth," he wiped his hand across his face, "and to answer your question, yeah, it was a nice nap. Thanks for asking."
