Author: no. That's not the proper way. But you do know your numbers and that's good. So it's actually 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 ect. So if we see this symbol, we need to add them. So if we put two ones together, what will we get?
Pit: *thinking* two?

Author: reminding me of math, something funny happened in math in Yr 5. We were doing decimals and my teacher was saying 'decimal point' over and over again so she said, 'okay let's put the DP over there-' and I was like 'WHAT?!'
