Mid Book Finale | Chapter 7 - Banished

Cam woke up on a bed inside a house which looked liked it was being used a hospital,
"You okay?" Daisy asked holding his hand,
"Yeah fine I think" Cam replied,
"Where's Lizzie?" Cam asked,
"She's using crutches but she's been up for a while now" Daisy told him,
"Good" Cam said.

A couple of hours later Clara came and saw Cam,
"You saw them then" she said,
"Who were they?" He asked,
"They were The Soulless" Clara told him,
"Even Jordan's group were in fear of them" Cam told her,
"That's because they hide in the shadows, they never come out, that's the second time i've seen them" Clara said,
"But I owe them" Cam said
"You do indeed but there's another meeting later and you need to be there, so get yourself fit and I'll see you later" Clara told him and she left the room.

Cam got out his bed and put his clothes back on, he then went to the meeting.

"I need answers now!" Clara shouted, "I'm certain that these two men never left the community but they're not here" Clara said, Kelsie's guilt was showing and she went very red,
"Kelsie is there something you know?" Clara asked, Kelsie tried to hold it in,
"I'm sorry" she said as she burst in to tears,
"It was me!" Cam shouted, everyone gasped and looked at him,
"Sorry Cam" Clara said,
"I killed them, Kelsie was being attacked and I stopped them both, we hid the bodies until morning and when I went on a run I burnt them" Cam explained,
"These were our own people Cam" Clara told him,
"I was protecting a friend, that's all" Cam said,
"Well I don't have anything else to say Cam, pack your stuff and then you're out" Clara told him.

Cam was packing his things and Daisy walked in,
"You didn't have to do that" Daisy told him,
"But I did" he said,
"Where are you going to go?" Daisy asked,
"I don't know, I would've thought you would come with me" Cam replied,
"We can't afford to let this place go, even knowing what's out there makes me stay inside" Daisy told him,
"Well are you coming or are you staying?" Cam asked,
"Cam, I can't leave, who's going to look after Lizzie?" She asked, Cam slammed the door on her and he went to the gates.

Lizzie was waiting at the gates with her bag,
"No you're staying here with Daisy" Cam told her,
"But I don't want to leave you" Lizzie said,
"We haven't got a choice, you'll be safer here" Cam told her, he crouched down and hugged her and then got up and walked towards the gates, Clara opened them up,
"These people who first came in here with me are my family, and if you hurt them in any single way, I will kill you" Cam told her and he left.

Cam walked through the woods with just a knife to protect him, he began getting weak and was in need of food,
"Cam, it's us again" a voice said from the darkness,
"Who is it?" Cam asked as he pointed it at the voice, Cam heard the sound of horse shoes against the floor and his beating heart began to slow itself down.
"I need help" Cam said desperately,
"Let's get you some help" a man said and he lifted Cam on the his horse and he rode off.

By morning Cam and the man had arrived at their destination, it was an old fire station hidden in the woods. The man helped Cam off the horse and they went inside, there's were hundred of men in armour eating tones of food,
"Let's get you something to eat" the man said as he gave Cam a plate with sausages a mashed potato on it,
"Thank you" Cam said. Once Cam had eaten the man took Cam to a small room with a elderly man lying on a bed,
"I sense a presence I haven't felt before" the old man said,
"This is Cam, the man who was threatened by Jordan's group" the man told the old man,
"Thank you" the old man said and the other man left the room,
"Now Cam we have a lot to talk about, my names John and I'm here to build you a whole new life" John told Cam,
"Are you?" Cam asked,
"Yes, this group who I named The Soulless is a caring group, we do not kill, the name is to scare other groups so that they don't mess with us, people know little of us which is why they fear us" John explained,
"But why?" Cam asked,
"I don't like killing, now I know that in the world like this we have to but that's why you're here, I want you to lead The Soulless and teach them how to fight against Jordan's group" John replied,
"Jordan's group is a group not to mess with, they're bigger than you think" Cam told John,
"So are we, we have ten settlements including this one" John told him,
"And you want me to be their leader?" Cam asked,
"Exactly, now there are also things you can learn from me, I'm old and I have lived a hell of a lot longer than you and I can teach you how to be wise but strong at the same time" John replied,
"Well I've got nothing to loose, time to start fresh" Cam said as he put every single piece of his past behind him...
