Encountered a wild...?

Misty breathed in the fresh air and smiled warmly. It was good to get away. She hadn't been on an adventure for ages. In truth, she sorely missed those lovely days spent travelling with her two best friends, and would dearly like to get that back. But it was so long ago now, and she had grown up. She sighed despondently. She certainly had grown up.

Still, it was time to cheer up! The boat was pulling in to Olivine port, the one and only port of Johto, her home for the next few months. After deciding to take a break from being a Gym leader, the most natural place she could think of to have a holiday was Johto. After all, it was Kanto's next door neighbor, and held so many fond memories for her. She wondered; how much of it had changed in 7 years?

"You wanted to see me, boss?"
"Yes. I have a new assignment for you. As everybody knows, Team Rocket's attempt to revive itself so many years ago here in Johto failed miserably. Somehow, the organization survived here, underground, slowly repairing itself. However, Team Rocket has encountered new...problems. With our demise, many new villainous gangs began to become recognized by the general populace. Teams Magma, Aqua, Galactic and very recently Plasma become well known and feared names in their respective countries. But we, we were left in the dust! Johto AND kanto became renowned for their LACK of organized crime! We were a disgrace!"
"Boss...I know this story..."
"Shut up and let me finish. I, Giovanni, have recently finished phase 1 of our return, and am about to implement phase 2. What is the one problem we are facing at the moment? Recruitment! We have the money, the equipment, the goals, but our image has become such a laughing stock, no one will join us! Well, this should change EVERYTHING..."
The shadowy man at the desk pointed to seemingly unimportant sack on the floor. The Grunt stared at it apprehensively.
"In that sack is phase 2. In that sack...is how we recruit new members, more loyal, powerful and cruel than ever! Take it now, and spread its contents around the country. In every city, every forest road, leave just one of those beauties on ground, and we shall have our army!"
"...but sir, I don't understand, these are just-"
"Do not question it. Simply obey my commands. Soon, I will have far more obedient members than you, if you can do this simple task right! Go!"
As the grunt fearfully scampered off, the man at the desk smiled.
"Yes. They will be obedient. I've seen to that..."

"Ah....oooh! Let's see here! Whoops! Nearly-wuhoh!"
Misty continued her strange dance with the overly large map, happy that no one could see her clumsiness. Instead, the forest surrounding her simply tittered quietly with the sounds of sleepy animals. Eventually, Misty won the war, and straightened the map out.
"Ooohkay, lets see now. I've just been through route 29....past through Cherry grove....whoa! I have gone FAR today... I JUST passed through Azalea town... That means I'm in...Ilex forest! Wow...dark in here..."
Misty suddenly felt very alone. She had decided to leave all her Pokémon at home, so that she could start afresh, but right now, she was feeling very vulnerable in the expansive forest that surrounded her. Was no one else there?
"Hmm...I guess I had better set up camp soon or else it will be too da-ugh!"
Misty fell, mid-sentence, onto the mossy yet also root-entwined path, hitting her knee painfully as she did so.
"Oowww....should have been watching where I was going..."
Lifting herself up to a sitting position, she looked irritably at what she had fallen upon. It seemed to be a discarded poke ball, bright gold and white, and with a single, somehow familiar "R" where the lock should be.
"Now that's odd...who would leave such an ornate looking ball in the middle of no-where? Perhaps someone dropped it...wait! They're something inside!"
Misty peered closely at the ball, and indeed, she could make out a vague shape wriggling inside.
"Oh dear! Has someone abandoned you? You poor thing, I'll let you out."
Misty immediately pressed the button, and out popped...a Murkrow?
"Hello there, cutie! What happened to you?"
The Murkrow looked intelligently at Misty.
Owner left me.
Misty was startled for a second, then she realized.
"Oh, you have telekinetic abilities! That's cool! Say, if your owner left you, would you like to become my Pokémon instead?"
Yes.
"Great! Let's start our adventure, buddy!"
Misty smiled and began walking. She didn't notice the strange red gleam in her new friend's eye, and odd curl in its beak. Almost as if it were smiling.
