I Heard You

Chapter 4: Talking

Uwian na. Nasa loob na kami  ng sasakyan. Nakahalukipkip siya habang nakatingin sa labas. Kunot nanaman ang noo niya at halatang inis sa akin.

Guess what? Napapayag ko siyang sumakay ulit sa kotse ko para maihatid sa kanila. Mahaba-habang pilitan ulit ang naganap, but in the end, I won.

Pikon kasi 'to eh. I need to piss her all the time so she'll just give up and end the argument.

I was about to start the engine nang tumunog ang phone ko. I picked it up and answered the phone call from my mom, "Hi, mom. Miss me?"

"No... Genieva's with London. Nasa school pa sila. Ikaw na ang sumundo. Hatid mo nalang si London kina Tita Breanna mo." She said over the line. I frowned looking sideways at Sav. Curious itong nakatingin sa akin.

"I'm with Sav, ma. I'll have to get her home. Can you call someone else? Tito Hunter o kaya kay Daddy or Tito Ryker."

"They're all busy. Ikaw na. Dalian mo. Mag-gagabi na. Baka kung ano pang mangyari sa kanila. Bye. Thanks." And then she hung up.

Great. Just great.

Genieva's school was far from mine. 4:30 pm na, bakit ba late na silang umuwi? Alam ko, half-day lang dapat sila ah. Grade 2 si Ieva then Grade 5 naman si London.

I typed something on my phone and showed it to Sav.

Cryd: My mom wants me to fetch my sister. Ayos lang ba sa'yo na kasama natin siya? Hindi ka naman nagmamadali umuwi diba?

Well, I can drop her to her house first but it's better kung sunduin muna namin si Genieva. That way, I could spend more time with her.

Sav: Mauna na ako. I'll just commute. Ayan kasi. Namimilit ka pa!

Cryd: No way. Hindi ka magcocommute.

Sav: Kailangan ko pang i-wrap yung mga books, Cryd.

Cryd: I can help you with that, Angel.

Sav: Seriously? Stop calling me Angel!

Ngumisi ako at tinabi na ang phone ko. I locked the doors and started the engine. Nang paandarin ko na ang sasakyan ay hindi na siya nakapagprotesta.

"If something bad happens to me, mumultuhin kita." Rinig ko ang inis niya sa pagsabi niyang 'yon. Natuwa pa ako kahit inis na siya.

We reached Genieva's school after thirty minutes. I dialled London's number telling him na naghihintay ako sa front gate. Ayoko naman kasing iwan si Sav dito sa sasakyan habang hinahanap ko ang kapatid ko.

Not long enough, London appeared with Genieva beside him. Nag-aasaran pa silang dalawa when they reached the car. Sa backseat sila naupo.

"You see? Ang pangit ng crush mo. Ang bata bata but her make-up is so kapal na." Pang-aasar ni Genieva kay London and then she looked at me, "Hi, kuya!"

Tapos ay nalipat ang tingin niya kay Sav who's now staring directly in front. For a second, I thought she's nervous but I dropped the idea.

Sumingit sa gitna namin si Genieva. Her hair was flowing behind her, "Care to introduce yourself, miss?"

"Genieva, she can't hear you." I told her. Damn, dapat pinaalalahanan ko na agad sila.

"What? Bakit? Is she...deaf?" Medyo gulat nitong tanong. I nodded and she squeak, "Ohmygods, sorry, kuya! I was being protective lang kasi I thought she's Lady Kiana!"

Umiling ako at hinawakan ang kamay ni Sav. She flinched with the contact kaya binitawan ko din agad, "This is your Ate Savanna."

I picked up my phone and typed, Introduce yourself. The girl is my sister, Genieva. The other one's my cousin, London. Go on, don't be scared. They don't bite.
