Night 1:

Katie, Jake, and I sat in our beds looking around. I couldn't sleep, with everything going on it's kind of hard to. After an hour of silence I hear a vibration. I look at Jake to see his phone light up in his lap. After a quick second of debating Jake turned his phone off. "Whoever that is must've done you wrong." I said quietly careful not to wake everyone that was asleep.
"Why do you say that." Jake said sighing.
"We're in the hot zone of an outbreak, most people would answer a call." Katie said suddenly. I was sitting on my bed with my back up against the wall like Jake, I turned my head to the right and saw Katie with her elbow propped up and her head against it. She looked exhausted, why wouldn't she be, today was hectic. "So your dodging calls from the police?"
Jake threw his phone down on the floor and looked away. "Think I'm officially not on it."
"Mom?" A small and fragile voice said. Quentin.
"Yeah sweetie?" Katie said turning around and sitting up to face her son.
"I can't sleep."
"Hands." She said and then put her hands up. Quentin did the same, both their hands just inches apart.
"But that's not 4-6 feet." Quentin said a little concerned.
"We'll make an exception, just this once." Katie whispered to her son. I knew what she was gonna say, I looked over at Jake and smiled. He gave me a curious look before we both turned back to Katie and Quentin. "What do we say at home?" Katie asked as Quentin smiled.
"There are no monsters under my bed."
"There are no monsters in your head."
"Tomorrow brings new day of light."
"Sweet dreams my prince, goodnight." I mouthed the last words along with Katie as she said them. After that Quentin laid back down and fell asleep. I've always loved that they did that. It was so sweet and it made Quentin feel better.
I shrunk down into my bed and looked up at the ceiling, saying that in my head until sleep finally welcomed me with open arms.
Tomorrow brings new day of light.
Sweet dreams, goodnight.

Day 2:

"Quarantine, does anyone know what this means?" Katie asked pointing to the whiteboard with her marker. Right now Katie and I are currently in the room teaching the kids about our situation.
"It's like a snow day for sick people!" Thomas said causing everyone to laugh.
"We can always count on you Thomas." I said as another hand shot up. "Mary?"
"It's like an isolation period for anyone who has been exposed to a disease." Mary said politely. I smiled and gave her two thumbs up causing her to smile and look down.
"Exactly, people in this hospital have been exposed to a flu that the doctors have not been able to fix yet. They don't want anyone to leave until they know that we're not sick too."
"Is that why Britney went away?" Quentin said suddenly without raising his hand. Katie glanced at me and sighed. I quickly replied before Katie could.
"Britney's fine Quentin, her mom's boyfriend is with her."
"When will our parents get here?" Mary said sounding worried, poor girl, so smart but so afraid.
"When the Quarantine is over, then we'll all be sent home." Katie replied reassuringly to Mary. Mary nodded and another hand came up. "Yes Bert?" Katie said looking at him.
"My wife is home alone, when do they decide when we leave?" Bert asked glancing at the both of us. Bert is the man who brought the white rats yesterday.
"That's a good question, we'll have to get back to you later on that." I said looking around at everyone. As Katie got back to teaching, I couldn't help but think, They must miss their families. Hopefully this will blow over soon.

Later that day Katie and I decided that the kids should stretch their legs and get some air instead of being cooped up in that room. "GUYS! Ms. Frank said to walk!" I shouted as all the kids started running down the hallways. We turned a corner and I saw Jake sitting against the wall with a ball in his hand. "We're in a creepy hospital with fourteen kids, this is so fun." I said sarcastically to Katie, as she chuckled.
"Don't worry, we got this one!" Katie said a little loudly as she was looking at Jake. "You seem so busy." I couldn't help but chuckle this time at her sarcastic comment.
"Need some help." Jake said going back to throwing the ball against the wall and catching it.
"To late Jake Riley." I said as we both turned the corner to follow the kids. Ugh. That man...
"So tell me, what is your family like? And actually give me more info instead of just 'they're nice'" I rolled my eyes as Katie pressed on.
"Well you know about my actual dad leaving and my stepdad and stepsister. My mom-Sarah-is the most thoughtful person in the world. She never raises her voice, she never gets upset without reason, she agrees to almost anything I say, she also says I'm kind of a mini-her with an attitude. My stepdad-Luke-is so nice and caring. Sometimes he acts like a teenager and I wonder if he's grown up yet. And Hannah, she's the sister I've always wanted. We are like the same person, except she's much nicer."
Katie was smiling and nodding as I spoke, I could tell she was happy for me but also sad that she doesn't have a life like that for Quentin. "You seem like you have it all." She said but I quickly shook my head.
"It does, but I never talk to my actual dad, he's cheated on my mother with multiple woman so I can't stand him. We're struggling a little with bills. My mom lost her job two weeks ago and Luke's boss is becoming bankrupt. Hannah works at a Café which the pay is okay. This job is helping my family a lot though." Katie gave a sympathetic look.
"You'll get through it, I did." With one last look we turned another corner and started chasing down the students.
