CHAPTER -17

Manik and Nandini started their dance practice.

Nandini gave her 100 percent while practising.

Manik was impressed by her dedication.

Manik - Not bad Nandini. You have improved a lot . As I had already said you are a quick learner ,so now you don't have to worry about the performance. I am dead sure that we are gonna rock it. Mark my words.

Nandini - I hope so.

They practiced for 1 hour when Manik got exhausted.

He sat on the bed and said- Yaar Nandini I m tired.

Nandini - Itni jaldi.

Manik - Haan yaar . Aur am hungry too. Kuch khane ko hai kya.

Nandini - Let me check.

Nandini searched her bag and found a chocolate bar.

Nandini - Abhi to yahi hai. Tum yeh khao mai neeche Jake dekhti hu ke hostel ke kitchen me kuch milta hai kya.

Manik - Mai yaha akele baith ke kya karunga. Bore hojaunga. Mai bhi tumhare sath chalta hu.

Nandini - No no. Tum neeche nahi aasakte. Agar Kisi ne dekh liya to problem hojayegi.

Manik - Koi problem nahi hoga. Aur Waise bhi time dekho. 10 baje hai. Abtak to sab so chuke honge.

Nandini - But Manik......

Manik - No ifs and buts. Let's go.

Nandini - Ok Chalo.

Manik and Nandini slowly went down without making any sound.

Nandini opened the kitchen door and searched the fridge. She found nothing in it. The kitchen had nothing but empty vessels.

Nandini - Manik yaha to kuch bhi nahi hai.

Manik - Koi baat nahi hum kahi bahar chalte hai.

Nandini - Manik..... Are you kidding me? Yeh hostel hai. We can't just go in and out of it just like that without permission. Aur wo bhi itni raat ko. No no no.....

Just then they heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen.

Nandini - Manik koi aaraha hai.

Manik- Haan toh. Lagta hai kisi aur ko bhi bhook lagi hai. Par don't worry Jo bhi hai check karke chala jayega. Kuch nai milega usey hamari tarah.

Nandini - Manikkk. ...... Tumhe is time pe bhi mazak sujh raha hai. Chupa jaldi se.

Manik - Oh no no no...... mai dobara se nahi chupne wala. Koi dekhta hai to dekhne do. I don't care. Tumhe chupna hai to tum chup sakti ho.

Manik said this in dramatic tone shrugging his shoulders.

Nandini - Manik please waha table ke neeche chup jao jaldi se.

Manik - Arey yaarrrrrr..... Ok fine. But on one condition.

Nandini - Ab kya....

Manik - Tumhe bhi chupna hoga mere sath. Mai to akele nahi chupne wala.

Nandini - Ok fine.

Both of them hid under the table.

The caretaker came inside and looked around and said to himself - Yaha to koi nahi hai.

Manik took out the chocolate from his pocket which Nandini had given him.

Manik whispered in Nandini's ears- Mujhe to bahut bhook lagi hai.

He took a bite and offered it to Nandini.

Manik in whispers -Arey Nandini tum bhi khao. Bahut tasty hai yeh chocolate.

Nandini hit his hand lightly and asked him to stay quiet.

The caretaker checked the kitchen and found no one.

Caretaker- Ye warden bhi na .. na khud soti hai na hi Kisi aur ko sone deti hai. Ab itni raat ko kaun aayega kitchen me Jo isey awaaze sunai derahi hai. Itni achi neend disturb kardi meri.

Saying this he closed the kitchen door and locked it and went away .

Both Manik and Nandini came out.

Nandini folded her hands across her chest and looked angrily at Manik and said-Manik Malhotra tum kya kar rahe the wahan table ke neeche.

Manik made an innocent face and said- Kya kar raha tha. Tumne hi to kaha tha chupne ke liye . Ab mujhe bhook lagrahi thi to chocolate khaliya. Akele kaise khata. Isliye tumhe offer kiya. That's it.

Nandini - Manik tum na .... tum .....

Manik - I know I am very generous..... pata hai mujhe.

Nandini stomped her foot and went to the kitchen door to open it.

Manik smiled seeing Nandini's anger.

Nandini tried to open the door but it was locked from outside.

Nandini - Manik ye toh locked hai. Ab hum kya karenge.

Manik on seeing Nandini's worried face came forward and tried to open the door but couldn't.

Manik - Lagta hai Ab hame subah tak yahin rehna hoga.

Nandini - Manik sab tumhari wajah se hua hai.

Manik - Nandini but....

Nandini - Manik please.....

Manik - Par suno to meri baat.

Nandini - Kya sunu.

Manik - Ek raasta hai.

Nandini - kya.

Manik - wo dekho.

Manik pointed towards the kitchen window which opened to the backyard of the hostel.

Nandini - Kya.... kahi tum ye to nahi kehna chahte ki hum yahan se bahar jaye.

Manik - Aur koi rasta bhi to nahi hai.

Nandini - But raat bhar hum rahenge kaha. Ab bahar nikalne ke baad mai mere room me to nahi jasakti morning tak.

Manik - Simple. Mere ghar jayenge aur kaha.

Nandini - Noway. Mai tumhare ghar nahi aane wali. Isse Acha mai yahi kitchen me reh jaungi. Tumhe Jana hai to jao. Aur Waise bhi tum yahan nahi reh sakte. Koi bhi tumhe dekh lega.

Manik - Ya right. Aur mai Tumhe akele nahi chodke Jane wala. You are coming with me.

Nandini - But....

Manik - Shhh..... zip it....

Manik took Nandini to the window.

First Manik jumped out of the window and then he helped Nandini to get down by holding her by her waist .

Both of them came out of the hostel premises by jumping the backyard wall.
