The Next Day

Third POV

Vanessa woke up and put on her jersey of baseball and jeans. She went downstairs and saw Jay was in the kitchen making breakfast.

"Hey, Jay," Vanessa said standing in the doorway. "Oh hi Vanessa" Jay turn around give Vanessa a smile. "What are we eating, "Vanessa asked. "Waffles," Jay said smiling. "My favorite" Vanessa said. "Yeah, your father told me. Anyways they are done." Jay pulls out the waffles and putting them in the table

Vanessa sat down and started to eat them. "I been wanting to catch you alone to said thank you," Jay said sitting in front of Vanessa. "What for, "Vanessa asked confused. "For being so calm about this move, also for being so kind to me and my kids, "Jay said smiling. "Well, how can't I not. I mean I always wanted siblings and a mom."Vanessa said lying because she made a fit about moving and letting Zak girlfriend move in and finishing her food

There was a knock at the door. "That must Smalls, I got to go, "Vanessa said getting up and opening the door."Hey, Vanessa are you ready," Benny said going out of the house Vanessa got out and follow after Smalls. "Just warning um the guys are kinda mean at first but once they know that you can play they won't be as rude," Smalls said informing Vanessa about the boys. "Awe don't worry Smalls about me. I think I can handle some d-bags" Vanessa said messing Smalls hair up.

Once they go to the sandlot all the boys were looking at Vanessa and Smalls. "Smalls who is this chick," DeNunez said looking at Vanessa. "Guys this Vanessa, She just move into the neighborhood and she is here because she going play baseball with us," Smalls said shy. "And she can play," Ham said looking at Vanessa. "Yes I can actually I can play every sport ever known," Vanessa said smiling. "I doubt it," Yeah Yeah said crossing his arm. "Okay then play me let see if just because I'm not a guy means I can't play." Vanessa said crossing her arms

"Alright, you bat" Benny said giving Vanessa his bat. "Alright," Vanessa said goes to the catcher spot. "Let get this over it. So you can go home crying" Ham said bored. "You might want to pay attention for this" Vanessa said swinging the bat and nodding at DeNunez to throw. He did and Vanessa hit the ball right out of the field. And began to ran all the bases smirking and once she made a home run. She stops. "What the hell" Ham said standing up surprised. "Wow, your good" Benny said. "Thanks," Vanessa said smirking at the other boys.

"Come on guys let's play some ball," Benny said taking the bat from Vanessa and telling her where to go.

After all the playing

Ham, Smalls, Benny, and Vanessa were in sandlot getting ready to left. "Wow Vanessa you were very good today," Smalls said. "Thanks, Smalls," Vanessa said messing his hair and both Ham and Smalls walk away to their house. "Hey want to hang out a little here," Benny asked Vanessa. "Sure why not," Vanessa said sitting down on the bench.

"So who taught you how to play like that " Benny ask Vanessa. "Well, when you live with only your dad and he is big on sports. You kinda are forced to watch and play the games" Vanessa said drink her water. "Really what about your mom if you don't mind me asking " Benny asked. "Nah it's fine and she walked out on my dad and me when I was 1 year old," Vanessa said. "So you never met her" Benny questioned. "Nope but I really don't care I got the best dad to make up for it," Vanessa said.

"So I'm guessing you and your dad are close as hell," Benny said. "Yeah it has always been him and me always along with his two long term friends, Aaron and Nick," Vanessa said putting out a picture of her and her dad along with his friends on her six birthday

"So you never had a mom figure " Benny looking at the pictures. "No I have but it's nick wife," Vanessa said. "Oh and I'm guessing you are Tomboy," Benny said. "Kinda but I also like some girly things but not much," Vanessa said.

"What other things you like," Benny asked. "Well my dad has a love for the scary things like haunted houses or places," Vanessa said. "I can't tell " Benny pointing at her cake which was a ghost cake. "The weird thing is that I and my dad have the same phobias," Vanessa said. "Oh really like what," Benny asked. "Well dolls and clowns," Vanessa said. "Really," Benny said surprised. "Yeah I hate them with a passion," Vanessa said.

"You have fun with that " Benny said. "What about you," Vanessa said. "What about me," Benny said. "Who do you live with," Vanessa said. "Oh well I live with my mom," Benny said looking down. "And your father " Vanessa said. "Um, he also left," Benny said looking down. "Well, you can share my dad. He is great and I bet he would love you" Vanessa said bump her hand against his shoulder lightly. "Wouldn't he freak out that you have guys friends" Benny questioned."Not really because I can tell that you live for baseball and so does my dad" Vanessa said

"Come on we should be going," Vanessa said grabbing her things and Benny did the same

When They To Vanessa House

"Come on I want you to meet my dad," Vanessa said grabbing Benny's wrist. "Dad I'm home" Vanessa yells to the house. "Hey babe who is he," Zak said walking out of the kitchen and walking up to Vanessa to hug her. "Dad this Benny and he lives right across from us. Also, he is one of the boys that play with Smalls. Benny this is my father Zak" Vanessa said to introduce them to each other

"Hey bud I see you like baseball," Zak said looking at Benny's shirt. "Yeah I do," Benny said looking at his shirt. "Babe Ruth I see but it's ripped how did that happen," Zak said notice that his jersey was rip. "Um last summer a dog was chasing me and he kinda ripped my jersey" Benny explain. "Well since I have two jerseys of Babe Ruth I can give you one," Zak said already liking Benny. "You really don't have to do that sir," Benny said. "Nah don't worry I have two already here let me get it," Zak said while walking away to his room. "He really doesn't need to do that it's fine," Benny said to Vanessa

"Just let him. You are the first person he has met that likes baseball and Babe Ruth." Vanessa said and Zak return giving it to Benny

"Take good care of it," Zak said giving it to Benny. "Sir thank you so much," Benny said looking at it in wonder. "Nah no problem" Zak said going back to the kitchen

"Well I got to go but thank your dad again for the jersey," Benny said going out of the house
