I was in the middle of a pretty incredible dream when I felt a hand on my shoulder, shaking me awake. Then I heard Em's voice in my ear,

"Baby...you awake?"

I grunted,

"I am now." I looked over at the clock next to our bed, "It's 2 a.m. Why are you awake?"

She smiled, she was up to something. She tugged on my arm,

"C'mon." She said as she shuffled down off the bed. I lifted my head to see that she'd put on a pair of shorts and one of my hoodies.

I turned onto my back but made no move to actually get up,

"C'mon? C'mon where? Maybe you didn't hear me. It's 2 a.m. Nothing is open."

She walked towards me, taking my hand in hers as she tugged on my arm again,

"C'mooooooon...I have a surprise for you. Put some clothes on."

I sat up, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes as I shook my head,

"That's the first time I've ever heard you ask me to put clothes ON." I snickered at my own joke.

She tilted her head,

"Really?"

I shrugged,

"It was kinda funny."

She tugged on my arm again,

"Get up." She disappeared into our closet before emerging with a pair of workout shorts and another hoodie. She tossed them to me, "Put this on. Meet me outside."

I slipped the shorts on. I saw her walk towards the window out of the corner of my eye as I was slipping the hoodie on over my head. Once my head popped out of the sweatshirt, she was kneeling in the window sill. I realized then that she'd popped the screen out when I saw it sitting on the floor. I pulled my hair up into a bun,

"Outside? You mean like? Outside on the roof?"

She looked at me and it almost took my breath away. The moon illuminated one side of her face, casting a shadow along the other. But I could still see her blue eyes sparkling in the light. The most beautiful smile I'd ever seen lifted all the way to her eyes. She didn't respond, just quirked her brows and then took a step out onto the roof.

I was mildly alarmed. Our bedroom was on the second floor. It had been raining for much of the day so I couldn't imagine the roof was dry even if the sun had come out blazing at the end of the day. Not to mention it was 2 a.m. and I wasn't exactly coherent.

I pushed back the curtain and stopped when I saw what she'd done. There were a couple candles lit, surrounding a blanket she'd laid out and a bottle of wine and two glasses. She was already sitting on the blanket, her legs covered by another blanket when she turned to look at me. The beautiful smile she'd showcased earlier was still there. She gestured for me to come out,

"You're gonna miss it. Come out here."

I grabbed the closest pair of shoes I could see, which were thankfully my trainers, and I joined her on the blanket moments later. She passed me part of the blanket to cover my bare legs. It wasn't cold, but a slight enough breeze was blowing that made the second blanket a comfort. She poured two glasses of wine and then handed me one before clinking my glass with hers.

I watched her intently. I was enamored with this woman. She made me feel things I didn't know I could feel. The passion we shared took my breath away.
