Chapter 24

Zayn's P.O.V

I got out of the car and met Liz on the other side. We walked side by side towards Victoria's house.

It was officially Christmas. We were all celebrating at Tori's. My parents were celebrating at their friends, who were leaving after Christmas.

I was surprised that we were still coming over Victoria's after what happened yesterday. She told us this morning that she was just under stress from her memory loss and that it was that time of the month. But there was something else in her voice, like she was hiding something. I really want Tori to gain her memory back but I still have that guilty relief that she didn't. So she doesn't know that I cheated on her.

When we kissed, it felt so amazing and perfect. I forgot about everything and focused on Victoria. And when she pulled away, looking like I had just murdered new born babies, I knew something was wrong. I followed her to the table, and I remembered my heart stopping. I completely forgot about Liz. No matter how much I wanted to be with Victoria, I have to stay with Liz until after Christmas. Which is today.

We were in front of Tori's door. I pressed on the doorbell. You could barely hear the melody under the noise in the house. Soon the front door flung open and revealed Victoria.

My pulse rate shot up. She looked stunning as always. She wore a cute Christmas sweater with leggings. Which was the exact opposite of what Liz and I were wearing. I was wearing a tux with a tie, while Liz wore a long dress, with heels. I suddenly felt overdressed.

Victoria's face was expressionless. She moved aside holding the door. "You guys can come in."

Liz and I walked inside the house. The smell of cookies filled my nose. The place was packed with people. I didn't know Tori had so many relatives. Christmas lights were lit everywhere.

"I'll be right back." Liz said, wandering off to the kitchen.

I turned to Victoria. She was biting her lip and rocked back and forth. I smiled. She's so cute.

"Hey, how are you?"

She looked up and didn't answer. I couldn't help but notice the dark circles under her eyes, which I knew that it wasn't there before. And her eyes were clouded.

I tried to touch her arm, but she backed away, her lip trembling. Her eyes got glossy. My heart sunk. I couldn't bear seeing her like this.

"Don't." She said, her voice shaky.

"Victoria, there's something that's bothering you. Tell me. Please."

She shook her head. "Look Zayn, I'm fine. Like I said before my emotions are all over the place, and I have cramps."

"No. It's more than that. I can-"

"Zayn." Tori said. "I'm fine. It's Christmas!" She said, suddenly grinning, it looked real, but at the same time it didn't.

I narrowed my eyes. Tori sighed.

"Come on, let's go to Harry and Louis. We're making a gingerbread house. Louis kept begging us, so why not?" she said, dragging me by the arm. We passed through the talking adults, and the screaming children. They were so small, I was afraid that I would step or trip on them. Tori opened the basement door.

"Just to tell you, I don't do gingerbread houses. I'm a big boy."

I closed the door behind us, muffling the noise behind it. Victoria looked over her shoulder and smiled. Causing my heart to skip a beat. "No ones too old for gingerbread houses."
