"Knock that off!!" Rachet yelled in annoyance. The rest of the team had gone off on patrol. Leaving the children at the base until they came back. The medic just knew they were doing everything possible to annoy him.
Another crash followed by the sound of arguing. The doctor growled angrily and gripped the console. He had just about enough of the racket the children were making. Well mostly Miko.
"Find something else to do!" He yelled. The room was quiet for a moment and he sighed in relief.
A sudden burst from a speaker echoed through the base and shook the rafters. Rachet jumped and his eyes widened in surprise. He whipped around and glared at the girl. Miko giggled and struck another note on her guitar. The doctor grumbled angrily, grabbed a wrench and walked where he could throw it.
"Rachet." He froze and looked over at Optimus who had just entered the room. "What are you doing?" He asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Oh nothing." The medic responded as he tossed the wrench and caught it. "Just.... fixing a problem!" He said angrily as he threw the tool at the speaker. Miko shrieked as it exploded a little.
"Rachet!" She yelled as she stomped her foot and glared at him. The medic smirked and Optimus pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Perhaps I should take the children home so you can work." Optimus muttered. He was more worried that they would harm each other if they stayed much longer.
"Aw! But we don't want to go home yet!" Miko whined. Jack rolled his eyes.
"You're lucky I don't bridge you to the arctic." Rachet growled angrily. Rafs eyes widened and a smile spread across his face.
"Can we?!" He asked excitedly. They all looked at him with confusion. "Please!" He begged as he looked at the Prime. Optimus stared at him for a moment as he thought.
"The arctic is not a safe place for humans." He said simply. Raf sighed, hung his head and shuffled to the others. Optimus looked at Rachet who shrugged. The Prime remembered when he promised to bring the boy a snowball from one of their expeditions.
"However, I know a safer location for humans to be in the cold." He said. Raf looked at him eyes growing wide. "Perhaps we can go there while Rachet works." He muttered. Raf ran and hugged the Autobot leader around the waist. He looked down at the boy in surprise.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Raf said before he ran off to go get somethings. Optimus looked at the doctor still a little surprised and his friend chuckled quietly.
~~~
They stepped through the portal and Raf gasped in surprise as he stared at the white landscape. He crouched down and felt the snow between his gloved fingers. The boy looked around and grinned from ear to ear. Miko ran through the snow as she laughed happily. Jack walked around and took in the scene. Optimus watched them for a moment before watching the bridge disappear. The kids ran around and showed Raf how to make snowballs.
"Optimus, that area has the strongest signal." Rachet said over the com.
"Understood, we won't go far." Optimus replied. He wasn't really sure what to do while the kids played. He glanced at the children before turning his back to them and looking at the snow covered mountains.
"Look out!" Miko yelled. Optimus grunted in surprise as something cold hit the back of his head. He turned around and raised an eyebrow. Miko looked surprised as she covered her mouth with her hands. Jack stared back at him eyes wide as Raf brushed snow out of his hair.
"Sorry....that was... my fault." Jack said. A few minutes passed as they stood perfectly still and watched the Prime. A small smile crept up the leaders face and he crouched down. They watched as he gathered snow and packed it carefully. The kids grinned as he stood back up.
"Run!" Miko yelled and they took off in different directions. Miko screamed as she got hit. Jack stumbled as one hit him in the back and shoulder. The two teens hid behind a tree as more snowballs came their way.
"Note to self, never get into a snowball fight with an Autobot." Miko said as she smiled at Jack. She peeked from behind the tree and shrieked when a snowball hit a mere inches from her face.
"I think we can take him." She grinned. Jack gave her a look and they heard Raf laughing.
The two teens peeked out from behind the tree again and their eyes widened. Optimus was on his knees as he tried to get the boy off his back. They could see the Prime smiling a little as he carefully flipped Raf over his shoulder. The two teens grinned and ran towards them. Miko let out a battle cry and Optimus looked up in time for them to knock him over. He grunted as he fell on his back. Miko and Raf laughed as they started burying him in the snow. Jack grinned as he watched unsure if he should help the leader or the other two.
After a few minutes they stopped and watched the man. Optimus sat up and smiled a little bigger as he shook the snow from his hair. Jack and Miko sat on either side of him and Raf sat in front. They all smiled up at him. Optimus looked up and saw the sun was going down.
"We have to do one more thing." Miko said and he looked back at her. "Build a snowman." She grinned. Rafs eyes widened and he scrambled to his feet.
"What's a....... snowman?" Optimus asked as he tried to picture it.
"We'll show you." Jack grinned as he and Miko got to work. Optimus watched them intently as they worked. After a little bit they stood back and admired their art.
"Ta da!" Miko said as she held her hands out to it. Optimus stood up and cocked his head as he looked at the crude snowman.
"Are they supposed to resemble people?" He asked. The children giggled.
"No it's just for fun." Raf said happily. Optimus looked at the surrounding snow and attempted to make a smaller one. The kids gathered around and helped. Pretty soon they had a tall snowman with three little ones next to it.
"Hey it's us!" Raf grinned.
"Indeed." Optimus said as he smiled a little. He looked up and realized the sun was touching the horizon. He looked at the children and called for a bridge. The portal appeared and Miko groaned quietly.
"Thank you." Raf whispered as he hugged the Prime. "This was better than a snowball." Optimus smiled a little and set the boy on his shoulders.
"Optimus! Throw a snowball and I'll catch it." Miko said as they started through.
With the boy still on his shoulders he carefully crouched down and formed a snowball. The Prime stood up and threw it. He realized too late that he threw it harder than expected. Miko jumped as she tried to catch it, but it flew over her head. They watched it disappear into the portal and heard someone yell as they stepped into the base.
"Who threw that?!" Rachet snapped as he rubbed the back of his head. Snow covered his hair and dripped down his shirt.
"My apologies Old Friend." Optimus said as he set Raf down on the floor.
The children retreated to the couch and talked exicidly to each other. The doctor gave his friend a funny look before going back to work. Rachet didn't think it was worth getting mad over. He shook his head a little to get the snow off. He glanced at the Prime who closed the bridge and looked up at the children for a moment. The leader smiled a little.
"Was it worth it?" He grumbled knowing they could be a handful and in the way.
"Indeed it was Old Friend." Optimus smiled a little more and looked at the medic.
