Third Person POV:

Everyone was silent. All the wolfs surrounding pitied the beta of the Bluesky pack. According to them, the beta had been cursed to have such a mate. He had been an innocent man, cursed to have a mate who could not feel. How could fate truly be so cruel?

Theodore himself hadn't realized the situation at hand, he was still too joyful about finding his mate.

Austin knew he should be happy for his friend, but he could not help but to pity him instead.

The Alpha of the Black Talon pack was angry, but he knew he could do nothing about it. By law of the ancient wolf shifters, the she-wolf was to go to the male's pack, unless the she-wolf was a high rank or the male had no pack. The Alpha, by law, could do nothing about it. He was forced to give up his one power. He would have to give up the one thing that made his pack fierce.

Lynx herself did nothing. She had never been told how to act if this happened. She merely stood there, not reacting to the man's arms that were wrapped around her. She did know one thing though. She no longer would listen to her Alpha. It wasn't like it would matter. She had never been loyal to her Alpha anyways. Listening to him had simply been her purpose. Her purpose now? Listen to the man whose arms were wrapped around her. Why? She decided to listen to him instead of her Alpha. It was as simple as that.

Theodore finally pulled away from the hug. He looked down at her. His mate. His. She was beautiful, in a strange sort of way. She had silvery hair and pale skin. She wore a dark grey shirt and a leather jacket, along with black leggings. Her eyes though, they truly were strange. They were pure black, but her wolf clearly had not taken over. Black was a rare eye color for a werewolf's wolf.

He couldn't help but to feel confused. Was she not happy? But what wolf would not be happy to meet their mate? He scanned his brain for what he had learned in the past. Different sorts of curses and illness that messed with a werewolf's life. Perhaps she had no wolf, or could not shift, maybe she was under the effects of wolf's bane, or it could be that curse that causes a she-wolf to have multiple mates, whatever the curse was called he couldn't remember.

Theodore's eyes flickered over her, searching for clues to why she was not reacting.

The Alpha of the Black Talon pack could not help but to snicker as he watched the beta. It was honestly a bit funny to watch the beta struggle to figure out why she was not reacting.

"Her name is Lynx." The beta's gaze darted over to the Alpha, having heard him speak. Theodore looked back to her. So her name is Lynx.

"And, she's my Silver Assassin." The words struck Theodore like a truck. She's the Silver Assassin?! Her face still had not changed. The emotionless expression that had remained there for twelve years still remained. Only now, Theodore noticed it.

"B-but-- it can't--I..." Theodore was at a loss for words. He struggled to put together a sentence, but found himself incapable of doing so.

"She suffers from lost emotions. She can and never will return your love. You might as well reject her, she will not be able to feel the pain of it." The Alpha struggled not to laugh. He had won. He would not be loosing his Silver Assassin, and he had not broken the law of ancient wolf shifters.

Theodore's gaze flickered between the Alpha and his mate. He could reject her. She would not feel it. He would not have to feel bad about it. The though almost seemed tempting.

"No. I will Not reject her. She is my mate." Everyone was surprise at these words, even Theodore surprised himself a bit. Sure, she could not feel, but honestly Theodore didn't care. He felt selfish, but then again, she couldn't be mad at him for being selfish. Theodore still hates the thought of her being unable to love him, but who knows? Maybe there's a cure for lost emotions. He'd have to research that for sure.

"What?!" The Alpha hadn't meant to yell, but he was angry. The beta was supposed to reject her, not accept her!

"I will not reject her. Lynx is my mate. I do not care if she cannot feel. She is mine. Mine." Theodore could feel his wolf getting possessive of Lynx. He looked over to Lynx and reached out his arms, pulling her to him. She didn't react, she merely let him hold her.

"Very well. But don't come crawling back to me when she doesn't return your feelings. She is your problem now." The Alpha growled, his eyes narrowing. He was angry. Very angry. What would become of his Silver Assassin now? Her strength and talents were likely to be wasted now. The Alpha angrily stalked off, slamming the door to the pack house. Every wolf struggling to get out of his way in fear of being the victim of his anger.

"We should leave." Austin said to Theodore, who nodded in agreement. The two quickly gathered their things and packed them into the car. Theodore looked at Lynx, a bit unsure.

"You are coming with us, right?"

"I find my purpose now is to do as you wish. If your wish is for me to come, then I will follow." Theodore couldn't help but shudder at her voice. It was empty, yet wonderful. He found everything about her so strangely wonderful. Theodore nodded and beckoned her to follow. He opened the car door to the backseat and got in, she followed. Austin climbed into the front seat and started the car. They then began to drive back to the Bluesky pack.

While they had been driving, Theodore had decided to ask Lynx questions about herself. She answered them, but asked him no questions in return.

"So, you really feel nothing? Nothing at all?" Austin asked. He had occasionally asked a question or two, but Theodore had asked most of the questions.

"Yes. I haven't felt anything since I was eight." Theodore felt bad for her. She hadn't been able to feel anything for twelve years.

Lynx herself hadn't thought much about the situation. There wasn't anything to think about. She would listen to Theodore now, not the Alpha of the Black Talon pack. Her eyes flickered over to Theodore. She had been looking at Theodore a lot. The more she looked at him, the more she--she didn't know what to call it. She felt the same, but different. It was like a small spark of flame was struggling to burn in her. It was, something. It was just a small spark, but it was still something.
