It Can Break

Edward and Roy decided not to tell Alphonse. He'd be devastated, hearing that the girl of his dreams was a murderer. Ed couldn't get over the fact that it was his best friend. Roy had done his best to comfort his little alchemist. Currently, they sat on Roy's couch at home, his arms wrapped around the blonde's waist, holding him close. Ed was snuggled into Roy's chest. "I-I don't understand....why...?" He mumbled. Roy combed his fingers through Edward's lose, golden hair. He had removed the hair tie a few minutes ago. He kissed the top of his head before gently squeezing the small alchemist. Ed had one arm wrapped around Roy's chest as they snuggled. "I don't know Ed. I really don't know." The Captain replied, kissing his cheek. "I love you..." Ed whispered gently. Roy just smiled sadly at him. "I love you too." He replied, pulling a blanket over them. Edward was the first to fall asleep, and the Captain followed soon after.
Roy awoke to a beautiful sight. Ed was sound asleep on his chest, and his golden hair fell, perfectly framing his face. He looked so peaceful and calm, compared to when the young man was awake and he was shouting at every jab made at his height. Or when he worried about someone else's well being. It made Roy think that, Ed would be the perfect officer, if only this wasn't all temporary. If only after this case, Edward could stay with him. Roy gently combed his fingers through the blonde's hair, and Edward began to stir. Roy chuckled when two golden eyes stared at him. "Morning." Roy greeted. Ed just snuggled back with him. "Ten more minutes." He grumbled. "C'mon shorty, get up." Roy replied, and the blonde alchemist growled. "SHUT UP YOU BASTARD!" He snapped, wide awake now. Edward got up from his spot on Roy, and sighed. "We have to hurry up and get ready. Duty calls." The Captain stated. Edward groaned and rolled his eyes. "Alright." He grumbled. Roy just ruffled his hair. The two took turns showering, and then got dressed. Once they were done, the smaller alchemist followed the taller one to the car, and off to work they went. "You know Ed, you can't keep hiding the truth from Al. He'll find out eventually." Roy explained. The blonde frowned, and stared out the window. "Yeah....I know." He replied softly. The rest of the car ride was quiet. Work was, somewhat normal. Besides Hawkeye almost pulling the trigger on Havoc, for a comment he made. Towards the end of the day, when night began to fall, is when it all went bad. The moon was high in the sky, and stars could be seen. Everyone was about to leave, when Roy had gotten a call. As the person on the other side of the phone spoke, Roy looked at Edward, giving him a look. A few minutes later, Roy ended the call. "Everyone, grab your weapons. We're stopping a criminal." He commanded. He then looked to Ed, and it didn't take long for the blonde to understand what was going on. "Edward, you may want to fill your brother in about what's going on." He said softly, making Al raise an eyebrow. "Brother?" He asked. Ed clenched his fist, as he looked away. "Al....a few days ago...Roy and I...we found out who's been killing people..." Alphonse looked at him. "That's great Brother! Who is it?" He questioned, making Ed grit his teeth. "Winry..." He mumbled. Al's eyes widened with shock. He stood there for a few moments. "N-No....Do you have any proof....?" He asked. Roy took charge of the situation now. "We went to her dorm room, and inside a notebook, was a blueprint for a suit of auto mail." He explained. "But that could mean a number of things..." The younger Elric replied. "No, Al. It was there, the suit she used. It was built." Ed cut in. Alphonse couldn't believe what he was hearing. He looked to his elder brother. "You knew, you didn't tell me?! How could you keep something like that from me?!" He exclaimed. Edward looked at him. "Al, I'm-" "No, Brother, I don't want to hear it." There was a thick, pregnant silence between the brother's after that. Roy cleared his throat. "Alright everyone. Let's go catch us a killer." He stated.
Within minutes, everyone was out on the streets, looking for Winry. Alphonse had been giving Ed the silent treatment, making the elder brother frown. "Alphonse listen..." He began, as the two ran side by side. He didn't get a response from his sibling as they continued. "Look, I'm sorry. The only reason why I didn't tell you because I know how you feel about her. I didn't want you to get hurt...." He mumbled. Al's eyes softened a little. It was just like Ed to look out for him. He was about to reply when a scream was heard. Ed and Al looked at one another, before charging towards the scream. "So, you two finally decided to show up." A voice said. Two sets of golden eyes, looked around. "We know it's you Winry! Just show yourself already!" Edward exclaimed. She stepped out of the shadows, her hair hanging loosely around her. In one hand, she held a wrench, and black colored metal covered her. "Why, why would you do this?!" Al exclaimed, staring at her. She sighed, and swung around her wrench. "Well, wouldn't you do the same if you were humiliated in front of the entire class? And you're teacher stole your auto mail designs, and sold them on the black market?" She asked. The brother's were speechless. "Edward! Alphonse!" Roy exclaimed, coming up from behind them, the rest of the team following. "You're interrupting our conversation....that's rude y'know..." Winry mumbled, no longer swinging her wrench, and alarming Edward. In a flash, Winry ran towards Roy and the others. "Roy!" The alchemist exclaimed, charging in front of them, and clapping his hands together, throwing them on the ground, blocking her attack. "Roy, listen to me-" He stopped, clapping again, building another wall. "When there's an opening, I want you to hold Winry down." Edward explained. Roy looked at him. "What are you planning?" He asked. "Just trust me on this one." The blonde replied. "Al! Let's go!" He called, catching Winry's and his younger brother's attention. The younger blonde nodded, and the two ran side by side again. Winry charged after them, swinging her wrench at the two. As they ran, Edward tried to use his alchemy to make obstacles to slow her down. "We're gonna set a trap." Ed began. Al looked at him. "What do I need to do?" He asked. "Draw an array on that wall over there. Then, wait until Winry shows up." He responded. "Alright." Alphonse agreed. He hurriedly drew an array with chalk, and stood there. "Now what?" He questioned. "Wait until I give you the signal." The smaller, yet older brother commanded. Winry eventually caught up to the brother's, and Edward clapped his hands together, making a blade on his auto mail.  "This ends now Winry!" He exclaimed. The blonde mechanic looked at him. "Hm, why say that? It's only just begun." She replied. She used her wrench to swing at Edward, and he blocked the attack with his arm. He let out a grunt, and put his hand on his metal arm, reinforcing the block. Winry smirked at him, before swiftly kicking at his feet, making the blonde fall. "Ed!" Roy shouted, catching up to them. Winry took the opportunity to step on Ed's stomach, making the male beneath her foot cry out in pain. Her smirked widened, and Edward glared at her. "Say goodnight Eddie~." She chuckled, lifting her arms up. The small alchemist took the moment, wincing, and pushing her off of him. She yelped in surprise, and Ed took the opportunity to kick away her wrench, holding his stomach, and wincing as he did so. "Al, now!" He called. Both Elric's clapped their hands together, and they formed a cage around the blonde girl. Winry looked at them. "Why..." She whispered. "Why are you trying so hard to stop me?!" She cried out, looking at Ed. The young male gritted his teeth. "Because what your doing isn't right! You're taking innocent peoples lives Winry." He replied. "Those people aren't innocent Edward. They made fun of me, just because of my auto mail designs! I thought you of all people would understand Ed! You're parents died right in front of you! Haven't you ever thought of revenge?!" She exclaimed. Alphonse looked at Edward with worry, and the blonde just clenched his fists. "That doesn't make it right to kill people." He muttered. Winry felt someone handcuffing her. "Winry Rockbell, you're under arrest for murder. You have the right to remain silent, for anything you say can, and will be used against you in court." Roy stated. Ed destroyed the cage around her, and the Captain brought her to the car. Riza then took charge, and drove to the station. Roy then walked over to his little alchemist, wrapping him in a hug. Ed just weakly chuckled, wincing again. "I guess I have some explaining to do...."
