“Another day another dollar. Just brush off the insults and hold your head up high. Believe in yourself and no one else's opinion will even matter to you. That's the national anthem of a democratic society that cares NOTHING about how its citizens, especially the teens are treated by their families and peers. I'm the victim of countless torture, bullying, harassment, peer and parental pressures. And what does the government or the city officials do besides give shit ass speeches about how they're implementing this and enforcing that? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Can't they see I'm hurting? Can't they see that they're about to loose a member of this supposed “free country? Its obvious they don't care. No one does. Well, maybe there is an exception..."
“No Lauren, let her stay couped up in her room like the freakish hermit crab she is. We're already late as it is!" The young seventeen year old adjusted her glasses as she read over a few chapters of her Human Anatomy and Physiology notes and turned the volume up on her TV that was showing a “One Tree Hill" rerun to block out the sounds of her sister continuously putting her down and belittling her. Therapy and antidepressants were no help. Her psychiatrist, Dr. Kenny, had prescribed her a doubled dosage of Zoloft over the past month, but every time things seemed to be looking up, she fell right back into disparity whenever she heard her peers, sister, and even parents talk nasty and crude things about her.Its not that the straight A's since kindergarten and super advanced gifted girl wanted to remain a shell of herself forever, but she literally had all the confidence and ambition ripped out of her - especially with antidepressants that made her numb and useless.
She wished she was someone else. She wished she could invent a machine like Plankton did in Spongebob Squarepants that would enable her to switch lives with her sister, or her resplendent, vivacious friend Lauren Jauregui.
Lauren Jauregui was Y/N's sister's best friend since preschool. The stunning green eyed beauty had undergone a total transformation during her second year of middle school during her seventh grade year. She suddenly shed the excess baby fat, gotten contacts instead of the outdated turtle framed glasses she wore, gotten her teeth straightened with the help of a surgery and Invisalign, and became more outgoing and translucent than ever. Lauren Jauregui was everything Y/N wanted, or wanted to become.
“Oh come on Brianna! She's not a hermit crab. She's just really shy. I bet she wouldn't be if you talked to her or helped her."
“Me helping that fucking loser? You've lost it Jauregui. Look, you can go try and be buddy buddy with that freak if you want to. Don't be surprised if it doesn't respond to you."
Y/N had heard enough. She was crying so hard that she hasn't noticed the tear stains in her notebook or the lack of breath she was receiving through her lungs. It didn't matter though. Y/N didn't want to breath the same air as people that wished her dead. She didn't want to breath.
‘Suicide. Its the only way out.' The young, weary hazel eyed girl thought. She grabbed a bottle of the Zoloft she'd been prescribed and emptied the bottle, figuring the remaining ten pills would do the trick. Just before she could swallow the majority of the pills in her mouth, a frantic Lauren burst through her door, making her spit the pills out in surprise.
