Hey guys!

Thanks again for all the support, you guys are just simply amazing. [Surprisingly, you thought of things that even I didn't think of, and i'm the one writing the story here. I wonder what goes on in your heads.....]

Okay, so dedication goes to anime_iz_awesome for being an "awesome" friend. Haha, see what I did there? Anyway, this is going to be awkward, because she doesn't even read Percy Jackson....oh well.

Caterpillars!

Leo Valdez VIII

"Jason." Leo called, his voice holding no emotion. Jason turned, raising an eyebrow.

"What?"

"Aren't you going to go see Piper?" Leo asked, folding his arms and leaning against the doorway. When Jason didn't reply, Leo asked, "What about Percy and Annabeth?"

"Everyone's doing fine on their own. Plus, someone needs to keep guard, right?" Jason replied, a little bitterly.

Leo's gaze softened as he looked at his best friend,"What happened to you? Why are you acting like that towards Piper?"

Jason gave Leo an icy look, a warning to leave the subject alone. Leo however, met his gaze evenly.

"What happened?" Leo asked again.

"She betrayed me, okay?" Jason yelled, making Leo flinch in surprise.

"What?" Leo asked, "We're still talking about the same Piper here, right?"

"Same one." Jason grimly replied, explaining what happened.

"Look, it's not like I don't trust you, but maybe you should talk to her. What if that's not what really happened?" Leo pointed out.

Jason sighed, throwing his hands up in surrender, "Okay, I'll talk to her." Leo smiled, satisfied.

"Later." Jason added, "We have other things to talk about, for instance what happened in Piper's room? I'll speak to her later."

Leo rolled his eyed, but turned to go to the Sickbay. He was just about to go down the stairs when all the other five demigods came racing up, or in Annabeth's case, carried up.

Frank actually looked much better than before, his face had regained colour and he wasn't shivering like crazy. He looked calm and composed, but still slightly sad.

Hazel looked grim, though her eyes held hope. She didn't seem as broken or done as the rest, she still seemed to be okay to go.

Piper wore an impassive face, but Leo saw the panic and fear buried deep in her eyes. Whatever happened in her room must have taken a huge effect on her, and no matter how hard she tried to hide it, Leo saw it.

Annabeth looked weak, a state Leo could never had imagined her in. Her body was covered in scratches, some still bleeding, some just a white line. Her eyes had dark circles underneath, making her eyes look hollow. She was pale and thinner than normal, making her look weak.

Percy, however, was an entirely different story. Although he looked okay, his eyes and demeanour signified something different. Something really seemed to bother him, his eyes looked lost and he was spacing out a lot. He was deep in thought as he gave a piggy-back ride to Annabeth, who couldn't walk.

Seeing his friends like that, Leo almost broke down right then and there. The hope that Leo always saw within them seemed to be long gone, and Leo couldn't help but wonder if this quest was really even possible.

Were they just sacrificing their lives for no reason?

"We have a lot of discussing to do, so lets get started." Annabeth said, sitting down in a chair with some help from Percy.

"For one, what happened to Piper?" Leo asked, leaning against the mast as he looked at Piper expectantly.

Piper looked grim, but replied, "I suppose I do have to tell you. Leto visited us-"

"Leto?" Leo interrupted, "Who's that, the god of lettuce?"

"Goddess," Piper corrected, "And no, she's not the god of lettuce. She's the one who gave birth to Artemis and Apollo."

"But lettuce is so much more cool!" Leo whined, crossing his arms in annoyance.

"Stop it Leo." Annabeth snapped, making Leo flinch. Leo rolled his eyes but let Piper continue without interruption.

"So as I was saying, Leto visited me. She told us what's going to happen, and how we're going to be able to defeat Gaea." Piper explained.

"That doesn't make sense." Annabeth said, furrowing her eyebrows, "Didn't Hera exile Leto or something? And Zeus ditched her, even if she bore his twins. Wouldn't she be angry at the gods, especially Zeus, and not help us?"

"Perhaps." Piper said thoughtfully, "But she seemed pretty trustworthy, and we've got no choice for now. We don't have a plan to defeat Gaea, anyway."

"True. Continue."

"Most of the Giants are back, and with them in the way, there's no chance to defeat Gaea. Anyway, Clytius has not been able to reform yet, and Damasen is too peaceful for war. That still leaves us with eleven giants to defeat in the next thirteen days." Piper said, closing her eyes.

At first, Leo was confused. Wasn't it still the fourteenth day? But as he looked around him he saw the sun set behind the horizon in the distance, he realized how fast time went by. This really was a matter of time, the most crucial detail.

"You're not done." Hazel decided, looking at Piper's expression.

"No, I'm not." Piper agreed, "Each demigod will have to defeat the bane of his or her Olympian parent, and maybe even more. They will have to go in groups of two, but the specific demigod will have to deliver the final blow."

"How do we know which two demigods to send? And where are the giants, anyway?" Jason asked.

"There will be some sort of clue, we can't decide who to send. The giants are hidden along the way to Athens. Leto said to use our dreams, and my dagger." Piper replied.

"Then we already know where to go first." Percy said, "I had a dream during my nap, and it showed me some sort of temple. A voice kept repeating Hephaestus."

Leo shuddered as all eyes turned on him. Leo was about to say something, but Annabeth beat him to it, "The temple of Hephaestus is in Athens."

"That's great, because we'll reach there early tomorrow morning." Leo said, despite the sick feeling that settled in his stomach.

"It's obvious that Leo has to go, but who's the other person?" Percy asked.

As soon as the words came out of Percy's mouth, a rain drop fell on Leo's cheek. Leo wiped it off and looked at it in wonder, Argo II was protected from the weather, just like Camp Half-Blood.

"Water." Hazel said, "It's Percy."

"So Leo and Percy have one day, tomorrow, to defeat the Bane of Hephaestus, Mimas." Piper announced, "But that's not all. One of these expeditions to slay giants will be unsuccesful. One of us won't be coming back."

Who? Who won't be coming back from one of these giant-slaying expeditions?

[To clear things up, yes, only one of the demigods won't be coming back, despite two demigods going to slay the giants.]

Alright, thanks again for all your support, but this time I have a request! Can we get 15 comments this time? I won't update until there are at least 15 comments. Thanks again, and I'm really sorry this update was so late.

But don't forget to vote and all that, yeah?
