You know what the problem is with dating one of your brothers best friends? You still have to "associate" with him even after the break up.

And that's the exact situation I'm in. You see my brother, Scott, is best mates AND pack mates with my ex-boyfriend, Derek.

He usually doesn't turn up for pack meetings much but its almost guaranteed Derek would show up when I didn't want to talk to him. And today seemed to be one of those days.

*FLASHBACK*

"What the fuck is this?!" I raged after locating Derek in a room of a random house party I had dragged him to, and now I'm thinking it wasn't that good of an idea. He stared at me like a deer in headlights as the woman I had caught him with scrambled to locate her clothes and leave the room.

Slamming the door once she had left, I stared at him awaiting for some sort of explanation.

"I-I'm sorry I-" he scrambled to think of the right words to say.

"What? Am I not good enough? Do I-"

"You are good enough-" Derek tried to reason.

"Then why the fuck did I catch you cheating on me then, huh?" I screamed at him, anger finally taking over.

"The pack needed information-"

"Well that makes this situation a whole lot better then doesn't it?" I spat, as tears clouded my eyes, "I sacrificed so much for you, and this is what I get?"

I stared at him, guilt clearly evident on that perfect face of his. Tears were threatening to spill.

"I'm done," I whispered, as he ran to where I stood near the door to the room.

"Baby don't-" he tried to grab my arms but I pushed him away.

"Don't you baby me Derek, you lost that privilege once you got into bed with her," I spat before turning and walking away.

"Goodbye Derek."

*PRESENT DAY*

It was late Thursday afternoon, pack night, and Lydia and Malia were forever trying to convince me to go bowling with them claiming "we haven't spent time together in forever". We went shopping yesterday.

"I'm sorry girls, I have a test to study for tomorrow," I tried to reason with them, thinking of whatever lame excuse I could use to get out of seeing Derek.

"For what class?" Lydia asked with raised eyebrows.

"Chemistry?"

"You don't even do chemistry."

Crap. I may as well just tell them the truth.

"Okay, you caught me. I just don't want to see Derek alright?"

Lydia sighed.

"You do know he has gone MIA since the party right?" Malia stated, "just please come."

"Alright, fine. But if he turns up I am leaving," I warned, earning raised hands from both the girls.

"Alright well we're going to go, I'll pick you up at 7" Lydia stated excitedly, grabbing her things and pulling herself and Malia out of my bedroom.

It was not long after they had left, I was going through my wardrobe looking for the perfect outfit when the doorbell rang.

"Scott can you get that," I yelled out.

No response.

I sighed, before grabbing the closest dress and walking towards the door.

"This better be important I was- Derek?" I said before the opening the door, shocked to see the muscular figure standing before me.

"Ah-hey," he smiled nervously, "can I come in?"

"What do you want Derek?" I asked, leaning against the door with my arms crossed.

"I just came to apologise and clear the air about what happened at the party," Derek sighed nervously, looking at my eyes for an indication to continue his explanation. I nodded.

"I am so sorry about what happened that night, I really am, but you have to believe me when I say that I wasn't really myself when you walked in," Derek said, nervousness taking over as he stared at his hands.

"What do you mean?" I asked, surely he wasn't going to slap me with some bullshit excuse.

"After ah-that happened and you left, Scott found a plant in the corner of the room that was severely affecting my perception of situations so.." he trailed off, looking at the ground.

I exhaled deeply, a breathe I didn't know I was holding and looked at the broken man standing in front of me. Surely Derek wouldn't be this distraught if this was a all lie.

"I believe you," I stated, breaking the silence, "but if you ever try anything like that again-"

"I-I won't, I can promise you that," he breathed a sigh of relief, flashing that smile that made me fall for him all those months ago.

"How about, we meet the pack at the bowling alley and then go from there," I flashed him a smile, before quickly texting Lydia to not worry about picking me up.

I had Derek back, and that's all that mattered.
