Reader's P.O.V

I shivered in the cold night air, pulling my coat tighter against my skin, trying to reserve my body heat. Why did it have to be so cold? Why did I decide to follow Bilbo on his crazy quest? I mean I could be at home, cozy and warm, sat by the fire reading a book but instead I'm stood out in the cold, walking all the way to a mountain to reclaim it for a group of dwarves that I barely even knew. I let out an exasperated sigh, my breath forming a little cloud in the chilly air, my feet still plodding along in time with the others.

We soon stopped in a small clearing, setting up camp and building a fire which I immediately sat close to, close enough that I could sit there without Bilbo or any of the dwarves having mini panic attacks and dragging me away from the heat.

A smile appeared on my lips as that thought came into my head, the smile only growing when I heard a small nervous cough from behind me.I didn't even bother turning as I already knew who it was, Ori, the youngest dwarf on the quest and the one I happened to be courting. True, I had only known him for a little while but as soon as I met him I couldn't help but fall in love. He was perfect to me. His shy way of speaking, the little blush that tinged his cheeks when he spoke to me, just everything about him.

"Err, (Y/N)?"

I tilted my head so I could look up at him, noticing the little pink blush on his cheeks.

"Yes Ori?"

"Are you cold?"

I nodded slowly, wondering where he was going with this. We had been courting for a few weeks now and I was still unable to understand his body language sometimes. A small smile appeared on his lips as he sat down behind me, his arms wrapping around my waist, gently tugging me into his lap.

"Better?"

I let out a small giggle as his breath fanned against my neck, his head resting against my shoulder. We cuddled like that, just watching the fire for a good few minutes, the comfortable silence, between us, only broken when Ori spoke up again.

"Would you stay with me after this quest has finished?"

My eyes widened and I turned to look him straight in the eyes.

"What do you mean?"

He let out a sigh, his grip on my waist tightening a bit.

"I mean would you leave me and go back to the Shire? Leave me and marry another hobbit? Would you go home?"

My lips curled into a small smile, pulling Ori closer into a tight hug, mumbling my next words against his neck but saying them loud enough he could hear me clearly.

"Never. Wherever you are is my home and I would never exchange you for any hobbit ever in my whole life. Do you know why? Because I love you."

A smile appeared on his lips as he held me tightly.

"I love you too, my little hobbit."

And with those words my eyes fluttered shut and I fell asleep, wrapped up warm in the arms of my dwarven lover.
