Savannah Jay Carter

I rolled over, wiping the slob from my lip. I looked over at my phone, which had been blown up with text messages from my mom. I opened them, seeing that she wanted to go to lunch. I groaned and got out the bed, going to the bathroom. 30 minutes later, I was standing in my closet, trying to find an outfit. I pulled out a black fitted tank dress and a pair of black heeled sandals. I pulled my hair into a high ponytail, slid on my sunglasses and grabbed my bag, leaving out the house. I pulled up to Fresh Eats, seeing my mom sitting near the entrance. I walked in and sat down across from her, making her put her phone up.

"How are you, honey?" She asked as she looked at me.

"If you're talking about Israel, I'm fine." I said as I rolled my eyes.

"I don't agree with what he said." She said as she sat back.

"Even if you did, I wouldn't care. I have to make some decisions for myself." I said with a shrug.

She smiled at me, making me smile back.

"Your dad thinks Max is a good guy for you." She said with suggestive eyes.

"Of course Daddy thinks he's good for me. Anybody but being lonely is good for me according to him." I said with a laugh.

"I saw you leave with him last night." She took a sip of her water.

"We just hung out, watched a movie." I took a sip of mine.

"I bet. I know what the kids do these days." She said.

"No, you don't but okay, Mom." I rolled my eyes as I spotted our waiter.

We ordered our food and my phone buzzed.

max: save me from work, lol

I text him back, asking him what he wanted for lunch.

"Is that him?" My mom asked.

I nodded. "I'm taking him lunch."

She smirked, making me roll my eyes. We talked until my dad started to call her, asking her where she was.

"Your damn daddy wouldn't know what to do without me." She said as we walked to our cars.

We got into our separate cars and I pulled away, picking Max's food up in the process. I parked my car and walked in. The receptionist looked up at me.

"Who are you here for?" She asked.

"Max Ortiz." I said as she called his office.

Shortly after, she let me up. I walked in to see him, laid back with his eyes closed.

"I come bearing gifts." I said as I set the bag near him.

He opened one eye, then smirked at me. He sat up, stretching.

"Thank you." He said as he opened the bag.

I heard him groan, making me laugh. I sat on his couch, taking in his view.

"It's really pretty up here." I said.

"Not as pretty as you." He said, making me look at him.

"Thank you." I said, giggling.

"You're dressed up but you look nice." He said as he continued eating.

"Not really, I just had lunch with my mom but thank you." I smiled.

"What else are you doing today?" He asked me.

"Sleeping some more. I'm tired." I said as I faked a yawn.

"Well, if you're not tired this weekend, I'd like to take you out." He said.

I nodded slowly. "Um, sure. That's fine."

"I wasn't really going to take no for an answer." He shrugged, making me laugh.

I stood up, grabbing my bag.

"Well, I'm going to get out of here. Enjoy your meal." I said as I moved towards the door.

He walked towards me, pulling me into a hug. Man, he smelled good.

"You always trying to leave without hugging me." He said as we pulled apart.

"You take them anyway." I said as left out.

I got back in my car and squealed. It had been forever since I've been asked on a date. My phone began to buzz. I pulled it out, seeing a message from Max.

max: one of the guys asked if you had a sister

savannah: sadly, no. just taj.

I dropped it in my purse and pulled off towards home. I couldn't wait until this weekend.
