((Happy almost Halloween! What are you guys going as?

The warmth had died off to a cool breeze as summer left the Overwatch base ready for the cold. Some were eager for the cold seasons, others... not so much.

Though some had differed opinions on the cold, the gang wholeheartedly was excited for Halloween. The chat in all commonplaces had been solely on costumes recently, as everyone was excited to see what their fellow soldiers decided to parade around in for the annual Overwatch halloween party. You had decided to be (favorite video game character that isn't Overwatch). You'd told no one, as you wished for it to be a surprise.

But now, as you stood in front of the mirror in costume, you could only smile to yourself. Perhaps Genji would like it? Maybe he would dance with you. Kiss you, perhaps?!

Your smile grew, and you found yourself blushing.

Since joining the team you'd loved the boy. Oh, how you loved him. He never seemed to notice you, but you were alright with that. Otherwise, you knew you'd never get anything done.

Fiddling with your hair, you tugged a brush through it half heartedly. What if he hated the costume?

You frowned, but then pushed a smile back onto your face. Whatever, you were going to have fun tonight.

A solid thirty minutes later, a knock on your door snapped you out of a mental argument over your costume. "The party started ten minutes ago!" Winston called through, alerting you.

You could barely contain your laughter at his costume, but it was cute on him. This dramatically increased your mood, and by the time you'd reached the commonplace, you'd almost forgotten your anxiety.

Without much of another thought, you entered.

Inside it was warmer, wether it was from the heater or your team mates-- you did not know. There was music playing faintly, and small decorations with a motif of pumpkins sat on snack tables and chairs.

The room easily fit the whole team, but most of them were sitting. You noted to yourself with a small laugh that Ana had fallen asleep on the couch.

When you glanced away from your passed out friend, you noticed something. Sure enough, Reinhardt (whom was dressed as a titan) and Torbijorn (whom had tied up his hair and put on an old Overwatch propaganda shirt) were having a drinking contest-- but the thing that has caught your attention was Genji.

Unalike the rest of the team, he was not in costume. Instead he was in casual clothes— without his mask. Once again, the self conscious feeling of doubt crept into your veins. Did he dislike costumes? Hate them?

Mentally panicked, you turned to find the nearest exit. When you turned back, you almost ran into Genji. You cursed, quietly.

"Hey there, Y/N." He chirped, seemingly happier than ever.

"H-Hey! Sorry about that I... uh, needed to..." You trailed off, stumbling for a lie.

Amusement twinkled in his eyes. "Could your task wait?"

You rocked on your heels lightly. "Uh, yeah. It can wait."

A wider smile played at his lips as he very suddenly grabbed your wrist, tugging you towards the stereo. This terribly confused you. Was he going to ask you to fix the stereo or something?

"Genji?"

"Genjiiiiiii."

"GENJI."

Boredom overtook you as you stood, watching him fiddle with Mei's phone- which was synced to the radio.

Finally, he looked up. "Sorry for the wait, I just wanted the right song."

"Song for what, Gen--" You were cut off as a slow tune began to play. The dancing area crowded, and many couples paired to dance with amused looks shot to their other.

Then, Genji stood. He stood slowly, and his face was tipped away. Later, you realized this was due to a blush.

"Y/n..," He began, finally looking you in the eye. Your heart raced. What? What was it? Did he hate your costume? Love it? Love you?

"Y/N, will you dance with me?"
