Caspian looked at the man intently. I walked to him and put my hand on his shoulder, kindly. He stood up and fell softly into my arms. The man seemed so relieved when he found out who we were, it made me feel sorry for him. He only seemed middle aged; looking a bit rough, as if he had not eaten or drank a substantial amount of both consumption's. Caspian and Quinn helped the man, carrying him to the small hut that was right by us. We placed him on one of the beds and handed him so food we kept in Kyse's backpack. He scoffed them both down quicker than lightning.
"Who are you?" I asked the man as he looked up to me.
"Adam" He looked down and closed his eyes.
"What happened here?" Kyse asked him, making Adam look up at us and form a layer of tears in his eyes.
"My whole village was destroyed." He replied.
"By who?" I insisted he told us.
"Morgana" He growled. "She came to the village and began attacking, burning down homes and tearing peoples lives apart. I was in the forest when this began, when I saw the smoke. I rushed back and saw the whole village go up in flames. I ran to find my family."
The man began to cry and get angry.
"But she killed them!" He yelled and uncontrollably crying. "I want revenge!"
He stood up and his eyes changed into someone so powerful and evil. Coming closer to me he pulled me into him. My heart started pounding but I could see Caspian draw his sword out. That was when the crying man fell into my arms crying. I hugged him.
Everyone gathered together in a small part of the village. A few hours went by and Adam had settled down; we sat around a fire, eating and drinking.
Adam came over to me and smiled.
"I am sorry for earlier" he blushed embarrassed. "I did not mean to be so aggressive"
"It is fine" I expressed greatly to him. "I would have done the same thing"
Caspian was looking at me from across the fire, due to us sitting opposite to each other. He grinned at me and gave me a flirty wink, causing my heart to actually melt. I smiled and looked down to the ground. I stood up and went to find some more wood for the fire.
As I walked around I found some wood on the floor, picking it up and putting it in my hands, I walked began to walk back with to the others. I felt two hands pull my waist, causing me to drop the wood. I went to scream but a hand went over my mouth and I was pushed up against the side of one of the houses. I opened my eyes to see Caspian hovering over my face and smirking.
"Caspian" I whispered. "You scared me."
He did not reply to me.
That was when he looked down to my lips.
"Can I?" He asked referring to him wanting to kiss me.
In reply i nodded my head. Leaning forward Caspian put his arms behind me and put one behind my lower back. I placed my arms on his chest and one on the back of his head. He pressed his lips onto mine and we slowly kissed one another. His lips moved slowly against mine and butterflies irrupted my stomach.
This kiss seemed to go on for ages. But I did not mind it one bit. Caspian made me feel so special and as cliché as it sounds, he made me feel like the only girl in the whole world.
We broke apart when we heard the sound of horses. Caspian pushed my behind the house and we made ourselves not seen. I looked towards my right and saw Kyse and Quinn walking slowly over to us.
"Where is Adam?" I whispered scared.
Before they could answer me, I heard his voice speaking to Morgana's minions.
"What are you doing back here?!" He snapped.
The others just laughed at him and shoved him out the way on the floor. I let out a small gasp but luckily no one heard. Caspian put his hand on my shoulder to comfort me. But it did not work one bit.
"We are looking for some people" Linden spoke as he turned to Adam. "Have you seen them?"
"Why would they come here" he spat. "The once village is a pile of rubbish thanks to you!"
I could tell Linden would have been mad at the tone of voice Adam expressed to him and his men. However i could also see that Adam did not care at all how he spoke. Which caused him to show absolutely no fear.
All Linden did in reply, was laugh. Mocking him. Taunting him.
"Shame, is it not?" He laughed mockingly.
Adam ran up to Linden pushing him off his horse. He repeatedly attacked Linden which was when the men pulled Adam back. He was being held by two men, that each held one of Adam's arm. Linden stood up brushing off his clothes.
One man passed him a sword. With one swift movement, before I could even comprehend what was about to happen, the sword instantly killed my friend.
His body fell to the ground.
In shock I hid into Caspian and silently cried. I could hear Kyse and Quinn cry slightly too. Caspian hugged me trying to show no emotion.
They grabbed Adams body as Linden got back onto his horse. He pulled his shirt arm up his arm and turned his horse in the opposite direction to us. They put Adams dead, lifeless body on one of the guards horse. They all rode off after Linden again going to find us.
I looked towards Caspian and cried even more. Turning around I hit the wall beside me and was quickly pulled back by Caspian. Kyse and Quinn looked at me.We all thought the same thing.
An innocent man.
Killed.
