Chapter 8: The Prank

Clary came back and she looked so sad that I wanted to cheer her up, but I didn't know how. Maybe I'll ask my other pranking musketeers. You see when we first came to Clary and Jocelyn we played pranks alongside Simon and they called me, Max and Simon, the three pranking musketeers. So I went to Max and Simon for help, they told me that we could prank Alec. I didn't think it was a good idea, I mean Alec has just opened up to me and we just became best friends/brother and sister. So Max suggested Izzy, but Simon didn't want to do that because he's afraid of her whip. So the last one we could prank was Jace, I liked it so we were thinking of cool pranks when it hit me. We're going to dye Jace's hair, we only need to chose the color. We went for pink, that's the funniest. So I sneaked into his bathroom and picked his shampoo bottle, then I went back to Max and Simons room. We sat there and I got the pink hair dye out of the bottle and into the shampoo bottle. I mixed it with a straw and it was ready. We were very proud about our work, I sneaked into Jace's bathroom again and put the shampoo bottle back where it belonged, in the closet above his sink. I ran back to Max and Simons room, when I was there I couldn't hold it anymore and all three of us bursted out laughing. That will be so funny tomorrow, he will also kill us but hey sometimes you have to pay the prize. We went to diner, but Izzy was cooking so I politely refused and said something like "I already ate at my dads house" and stuff like that. The others were trying of making excuses too, but it didn't have too. "You guys can relax, I've got Take-Outs", we were all relieved that she didn't cook because she can kill people with her food. So we ate everything, it was quite funny. We were eating like animals, but we didn't care because this was the first meal in a week we didn't get food poisoning. We went to bed and I had a feeling I was being watched, but I shook it off. Why would anybody watch me, man Soph you need to stop being stupid. Little did I know I really was watched by someone.

The next morning I was awake at six o'clock, I didn't want to come out of bed so early. But then I realized about our prank and I was dressed within seven minutes. I put on my normal shadowhunters clothes, which consists out of a black jeans, a red shirt, a black leather jacket and my black sneakers. When I walked to the kitchen I came across Max and Simon and we walked to the kitchen together. We sat there at the breakfast table, I hear a shower and I just think about how awesome our prank is becoming. A few minutes later we hear swearing and then we know our plan worked, so we high-five each other before he came back. Jace stormed through the doors of the kitchen with pink hair, it was so freaking awesome. Everyone was laughing, including Clary. For the first time in a few weeks she smiled again. He was wailing "not my hair, not my hair". He was furious but everybody laughed and the good part is it lasts for a week. I asked him "hey Jace, theres something different. New clothes?" At which everybody laughed at, he said no. Then I asked him "did you get a tan?". Again everybody laughed and he said no. Then he snapped at me "Maybe it's the fact that I have freaking pink hair". Then I said "no, that's not it. Did you go to the gym?". Then I couldn't hold it anymore and I laughed with the rest. But he spotted me, Max and Simon laugh the hardest and he knows about us being the pranking musketeers. Then things in his brain clicked and he said "Run", with the most serious face we've ever saw. So we did what we were told, we run as fast as we've never run before out of the kitchen to the doors of the institute. Somebody stood at the doors "quick, open the door before he kills us" I screamed at him. He did what he was told and then we ran out of the gates on the streets of Brooklyn, with a furious Jace running behind us and who every minute throws threats at us. I think it's a bit funny, but I don't wanna die. So I said sorry as many times as I could, I didn't know where I was heading. But then I saw a familiar door and I screamed "dad, open up Jace is gonna kill us!" He opened up the door and let me Simon and Max in, but after us he shuts the door and doesn't let Jace in which I'm grateful for. First I wanna rest from my running and I sit on the couch. Then Raphael came around the corner, holy shit what is Raphael doing here. He sat on the couch at the opposite of me with my dad and Max sat on my left and Simon on my right. Then my dad asked me "so Soph, Max, Simon, what did my kids and their friend do to piss Jace of?" Which I responded with "look out the window and see for yourself". My dad stood up and walked to the window, when he was there he laughed so hard it was awesome. Raphael just looked through the window from the couch and laughed, it must be awesome to have vampire eyes and see in the distance for miles. Then he moved in vampire speed to the kitchen. When my dad was done with laughing he came back and sat on the couch again. Now my dad had a serious face and I was afraid he might punish us and is going to give us a lecture about why you don't mess with someone's hair. So I waited, but it never came. He walked to me and Max and said "I've never been so proud in my whole life, and that's a big deal because I'm over three hundred years old". Whoa, my dads just Santa Claus. "Thanks dad", we both replied at the same time. That caused Raphael and dad to chuckle and Simon to roll his eyes. In the meantime Jace is knocking, no punching on the door. My dad looked at me as he was trying to ask if it was okay if he let him in. I wanted to say no, but maybe if we explain it to him he gets it, maybe if we say it's for Clary he might don't kill us. So I nodded to my dad that he could let Jace in. So my dad opened the door and Jace walked in. "Okay, I'm done with murdering you three. Now I only want to know why". So I tried to explain it to him "it was for Clary, really. She was so down because of her mother so I thought it was fun to do a prank so she could laugh again. And it worked, she was happy for the first since her mom was taken. When we just moved in with Clary we always did pranks together to cheer her up". Then he looked at me with a soft look who are very rare for Jace, and if he has one its for Clary, Izzy or Alec. "Yeah I think I can live with that, but why me?" "Well we could prank Alec, but he just opened up a little, that by the way is caused by my speech the other day, and I didn't want him to shut down already. Then we had Izzy, but the boys were afraid of her whip. And the last one was you, normally you can handle a prank and you are the least one to kill us." Then I rephrased my sentence. "Well we thought you were the least one to kill us". "Yeah that makes sense I think, but I can just wash it out right?" When we didn't respond he asked it again and became a bit worried. Then I picked up my courage and said "it's done in a week". He looked so pissed. So I told him "whoa look at that it's so late already, I must get going. Bye". I made a move to go but he hold me back. "Oh no, you're not going anywhere. You're going to help me with this dye job". "Sure", I responded. So I asked "hey, dad. What do you know about hair dye that you can't wash out and that sticks around for a week?" "Well I can change it to blond for you". "Yeah that's okay". Jace answered. So I let my dad do his magic and waited. "Hey Jace, now I can actually say you're blond dyed". He glared at me as if to say 'shut up'. So I hold up my hands and then my stomach was trembling, so I walked to the kitchen and there I saw Raphael. He asked me "are you hungry?" I said yes and told him that I didn't ate this morning because I waited for Jace and when he came he tried to murder us so I needed to ran for my life. He smiled the million dollar smile that melt my heart. I could feel the butterflies. Stupid butterflies, why? Oh yeah because he's super hot, that's why. I went to the fridge and picked a left over sandwich from my dad. Then my dad came in with Simon, James and the now blonde haired Jace. "That you're my daughter doesn't mean you can just go and eat my food", my dad said to me. "Well actually I can, because parents need to feed their children so I'm thinking that you need to buy a bigger fridge". He rolled his eyes at me and the others laughed about our father-daughter moment. "Well you seriously need to buy a larger fridge because Max is your kid too and he eats so much. I remember one time mom and dad let us stay home, we were five and we had a babysitter. Man she was awful, but when Max distracted her I called a pizzeria and asked for five pizzas. I don't know why but I did. When they came I "got" some money from the babysitter, so technically she bought our food. We brought the pizzas upstairs and told the babysitter we were going to sleep. Max ate al four pizza's and I eat one. Seriously he eats like an animal, it's not normal. But he's my brother so I let him. That is the end of my story". "Yeah and what's the point out of this story, only that I learned that you can steal and lie at such a young age." My dad said playfully. "Well the point in here is that you need to buy a larger fridge because we're coming here more often and that Max eats like an animal", I told him. "Really, sometimes he eats like a pig or a dog or something. But I love you bro", "yeah yeah, love you too", he replied while he was ruffling my hair. Damn it why does everybody keep doing that. I look at my watch and see that it's already a quarter past nine and we needed to be in the training room with Alec at half past ten. Shit. So I turned around to the guys and said "hey boys I don't want to ruin your fun but we need to be at the training room with Alec at half past ten". "What time is it now", Jace asked. "A quarter past nine", I answered. I gave my dad a hug and told him bye, then I went to Raphael and shook his hand and said "see you next time, oh and don't try to murder us next time alright". I said to him and gave him a smile and walked with the others out of the doors back to the institute, but not before I could hear my dad scream at Raphael "you tried to murder my children and their friends, how can you. I'm going to turn you into a frog, but with glitters because even a frog needs to look fabulous". He wanted to do the spell and Raphael didn't ran away, he just stood there. Why didn't he run. So I walked in and said to my dad "if you're going to turn him into a frog I'm going to learn the spell and change you into a frog". "Well that doesn't changes anything, I've always wanted to know how it would be if I was a frog. I've always wanted to just hop on rocks and don't have a care in the world, maybe I can learn to breath under water". At this sort of moments I just asked myself how can I be related to him, but I also think that about Max so I guess I know why I'm thinking that. He was going to do it, if I didn't want Raphael as a frog I needed to do something. So I said "dad I'm seriously going to change you into a frog, without glitters and then I'm going to throw al your glitters away and you can't do anything about it. So if you let Raphael go your glitter will be spared". Raphael looked at me with an amused, surprised and impressed look. He probably looked surprised as why I would help him when he wanted to kill me the other day. My dad was thinking about it, then he looked at me and I looked serious so he closes his book and said "how awful that my own daughter threatened me with my glitters to save a vampires life". He looked a bit hurt, so I walked up to him and gave him a long hug and told him "I love you dad, for ever and ever". Then he looked not hurt anymore, but he was happy again. Just then I realized Raphael was still there. How big is the chance that I have a family moment with someone in the room, well there's always someone else in the room so I think pretty big. My dad walked away to his room so I faced Raphael and my dad gave me a wink behind Raphael's back and mouthed "go get him". I rolled my eyes, seriously he's my dad and he acts like a kid. At first it was a bit an awkward silence, till he spoke up. "Thanks, you know by saving my life from becoming a glitter frog". "You're welcome, I just thought it wasn't you're fault you were trying to kill us, and nobody deserves to be a glitter frog". There was a pause and he said "you were very brave back in the hotel, I mean you had a good speech. But as the vampire leader I can't just let you go you know. So I held a fake fight, but if someone had hurt you or your friends I would kill them. I didn't want you to get hurt and I was looking for a way out so you could be save, then the werewolfs came and I was so relieved that no one was hurting you". After that I couldn't think straight, he cared about me. Holy shit my butterflies are turning into elephants now, I'm surprised he can't hear them. I tried to look everywhere but him, and it didn't work. It was like I was pulled to him. We looked at each other for a few moments, but then my beloved brother came in and ruined the moment by telling me that we needed to go. I told him bye and left with the others to the institute.
When we were at the institute, we were five minutes late. Alec was angry at us for being late and gave us a speech about punctuality. Honestly, I didn't listen. I really love Alec as if he's my own brother, but his speeches are so long and he needs to get a little more lose. We trained for two hours straight, and I can say that I almost got better. It still is a bit difficult to win from Alec or Jace, but I won one time from Alec and one time from Izzy. But I'm for eighty percent sure that he let me win. And Izzy was constantly staring at Max, so that was easy. Jace was just to good, I couldn't beat him. I was done with training and I was exhausted, so I walked to the living room and I saw Simon sitting on the couch. So I did the one thing that I could do, I walked over to him while I was sweating like a pig and hugged him from behind. He began to complain that I smelled and that I need to shower. I laughed and walked to my room to get showered and get dressed, I dressed into some new black clothes. When I was done, the rest was also done and I walked to the living room to see them sitting on the couches. There wasn't any space left, so I sat on Alec's lap. It was quite funny, to see them watch us as they're waiting for Alec to explode. But he didn't, instead he laughed an threw his arms around me. Their faces were priceless. We talked about the training and then I noticed I was tired and a few minutes later I fell asleep in Alec's arms.

The next morning I awake in my own bed, I didn't know how I came here, I walked down the hallway to the kitchen and I saw that Max, Jace, Alec, Simon, Clary and Izzy were awake. I went to sit beside Alec and asked him "how did I get in my bed last night? I don't remember". "You fell asleep on me last night, so I carried you to bed". "Oh okay", I replied. Well if that's everything, that works for me. But something in the look of his face said there happened something. I got curious and asked him if there happened anything else. He smirked, "you repeated a name in your sleep". I was curious so I asked which name and he said the name was Raphael. Holy shit, no no no no no. It can't be, this is so embarrassing. I think he knows that I'm embarrassed, because he began to laugh and I think it's because of my blush.
