Tori's Outrage

It was Saturday. Cat was snuggled up with her plush unicorn in her colourful bedroom, checking out everyone's video profiles on The Slap. She carefully avoided Jade's, recalling the rumours about it. A scissor display with commentary by Jade sounded very blood chilling. Her PearPhone blasted out a wolf-whistle, signalling she had a message on her Slap inbox. Bursting into a laugh at the sound, she checked her inbox. She was still sniggering as she read through Jade's message, not really taking it in. Once she'd got over her giggling fit, she read through it. Her heart gave a little jump, and she clutched her unicorn to her chest worriedly.

Jade: Cat, please say ur not home. Tori is coming over. Go out ASAP!!!

Cat: How long have I got?!

Jade: Ugh, too late. She's already picking the lock.

Cat: How do you kno?

Jade: She's dragged me along.

Cat jumped, hearing her front door fly open. She searched desperately for a hiding place. As Cat heard footsteps thundering up her stairs, she panicked. Considering the situation she was in, she did the only thing rational.

She grabbed her lampshade and stuck it on her head.

"Cat? I know you're in here," Tori called, inviting herself in.

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Catherine Valentine is not available right now. She is as far away as possible. Please leave a message at the tone, and she'll be sure to get back to you. BEEEEP!" Cat mumbled indistinctly into the fluffy lampshade, doing her best imitation of a voicemail.

"Cat, take the lampshade off your head before you suffocate and die," sighed Tori.

Even more panicked, Cat hastily ripped the lampshade off her head (unfortunately, some of her hair was pulled in the process). "Can that happen?!" She shrieked.

Jade had clearly come prepared for a Cat Panic Attack, as she so 'wittily' called them. "Cat, colour the bunny," she told her, handing over a colouring book and some jumbo wax crayons.

"Cat, I know you're upset, but I want to talk to you," Tori informed Cat.

"I never said you couldn't," replied Cat. She was sticking out her tongue in concentration as she coloured, making her voice indistinct, so had to stop colouring to repeat it.

"Jade, can you go make some cocoa?" Tori asked weakly.

"Ooh, let me just think about that for one little second!" Jade answered, doing an exaggerated, high pitched impression of Tori. Cat giggled, earning her a sideways glance from Tori herself. "NO!"

"But I love cocoa," Cat wailed cutely, looking pleadingly at Jade.

"I'll make some for Cat. Not you," snapped Jade, who cared about Cat in a kindly, almost parental way (well, most of the time.). She went downstairs, and Tori wasted no time beating about the bush. She grasped Cat's wrist, so hard it made her cry out.

"Shut up, you stupid, immature brat!" Tori hissed. "Getting your little boyfriend to try and convince Sikowitz, huh? Well, it's not happening. You've got no talent, you don't belong at Hollywood Arts!"

"Tori, you're not usually like this," whimpered Cat. Little did Tori know that Jade was watching their every move. She had discreetly placed her PearPad in a certain position, and was watching the room from her PearPhone. Tori looked almost on the verge of softening, but she seemed it compose herself. Glaring, she tightened her grip.

"I'll hurt your little boyfriend, but I'll hurt your best friend first," smirked Tori, ripping up Cat's picture.

"You can't hurt Jade! She'll hurt you!" Cat moaned in pain, trying to prise Tori's fingers off her wrist.

"Oh, but I can. Beck would pick sweet, witty Tori over moody, arrogant, bitchy Jade any day of the week."

"Don't you dare. You know how much Beck means to her! And get off, you're hurting!" Cat sobbed, pulling away at last.

"Look Cat, I'm so- I mean, so what? The stupid little kid act doesn't work on me, Cat!"

They heard Jade coming upstairs, and fell silent.

"Cat," Jade smiled kindly. "Are you-what the hell has she done to your arm?"

Cat glanced at her palm. Sure enough, there was a clear, bright red handprint all over her wrist where Tori had grabbed her.

"I slipped," whispered Cat stupidly, shying further and further away from Tori. It was painfully obvious that someone had been gripping her hand. Painfully being the operative word.

"Your picture..." Jade gasped. "Did Tori do this?" But she knew the answer, since she'd watched the whole thing secretly.

"You cut up her colouring book!" Tori shouted in her defence.

"That was a lie so she could get away from your arrogant face!" Jade screamed furiously. Normally, her response would have been more colourful, but she was busy examining Cat's arm."Come on, Cat. Let's go make some red velvet cupcakes at MY house. Where friends who belong in the mental asylum aren't invited."

"Oh, yay! I love red velvet cupcakes!" Cat squealed, scampering after her friend. Coincidentally, her hair was the exact colour of a red velvet cupcake.

Tori gave them a disgusted look, and thankfully marched out of Cat's home while they got the ingredients out of her fridge. The two then walked to Jade's house, arms linked, ready to make-and enjoy-red velvet cupcakes.

Cats thoughts were in a whirlwind. Why was Tori suddenly so mean? Why did her voice waver when she yelled? Why had she seemed so guilty about yelling at Cat? She didn't know.

But the threat Tori had made continued to linger in poor Cat's mind, more defined than the other problems she currently had...
