"Hey, Cat!" A voice called after Cat as she walked towards her usual table. She knew as soon as she sat down they'd bombard her with questions, and found herself smiling. It was fun to stand out. She shot the gang an apologetic look, mouthed 'one minute' and turned to face the owner of the voice.

It was Clare Greenalgh, one of the most popular girls in school. She didn't exactly have 'minions' who kissed the ground she walked on, but she had a great gaggle of friends behind her at all times. She had brunette hair tied back in a vicious-looking spiky ponytail and a fluffy fringe she'd clearly cut herself. Some people rumoured she'd pierced her own ears with a needle and cotton.

Despite all this, Cat still smiled innocently, not bothering about exactly who she was talking to at the minute.

"Yeah, what's up?" Cat beamed sunnily. She thought she saw Clare's eyebrows quirk in an almost mocking fashion, but she couldn't tell.

"I saw your video, I can't believe you're such a good singer!" Clare announced, grabbing Cat's arm. "Come and sit with us!"

"Oh, I would, but my frie-uh, oh, OK..." Cat stammered. She didn't want to hurt this new friends feelings, but what about her friends? But now she couldn't even mouth an apology, because their table had been lost in the crowds of teenagers.

They'd understand, Cat was sure.

"So, Cat!" Clare's best friend Lauren chirped. "Any special boys in your life at the moment? Jade's boy is a total creep, if you ask me. No offence, babe." A girl who Cat presumed was Jade was bright red, either from anger or embarrassment. Then she started thinking about their question. Boys... For some reason, she avoided mentioning Robbie.

Was she... ashamed?

She shook her head. She couldn't be ashamed. But she still skated around the topic.

"Well, my brother is really cool! Y'know, one time-"

"Cat, we don't have time for that. I meant like, a boyfriend." Cat was a little hurt, even though she'd known what Lauren meant. Her old friends had always listened to her stories before... Wait, old friends? Why did she say that?! They weren't old!

"No, no boyfriends, really..." Cat shrugged, still confused as to where her and Robbie stood. A boy with a floppy fringe and cute smile wrapped wrapped an arm around her. She smiled shyly, although she felt a little awkward.

"I can change that," he murmured, and Cat didn't know how to react. He was nice, but... Robbie.

"Um, my friends... Maybe I should..." Cat turned around and looked at her usual table, uncomfortably aware the boy was leaning a little to close for her liking.

She was surprised to find all the gang's eyes on her. They thought she'd been blanking them! Oh no... What were they going to think of her?

Tori's eyes held sadness and betrayal, André looked perplexed, Beck was holding Jade back who was trying to run over and drag Cat over. But Cat's eyes swivelled past them and met Robbie's. He looked like a puppy that had just been kicked. His eyes showed worry, sadness, confusion...

And as if to make it worse...

The boy, the boy Cat didn't even know the name of, twisted Cat's head around to face him... And placed his lips on hers.

All in plain sight of Robbie Shapiro.
