Forever Friend
by Lucas Perez
A shoulder to cry on, a listening ear
Attraction to a friend now trying to think clear
Guys came and went, all I did was watch
I didn’t say a word ‘cause in my throat my heart was caught
Never too close, at a distance I stood my place
As I fought the temptation to touch and caress your face
My feelings for you, I can’t share
‘cause of reactions I don’t care to dare
Wondered what would happen if I stole a kiss
Would you reject it or would I taste your lips
I want the best for you, see you happy, and see you smile
Even if it hurts me and keeps me in denial
Oblivious to what I feel, you crush it time and time again
Each and every time you tell me we’re just friends.
But I understand
Our friendships is too precious to play
With that done and said
I’ll forever be your friend even through sunny and cloudy days.
