Hayley's P.O.V.
I woke up with another headache, I hate hangovers. I got up from bed, when I noticed I wasn't at home. I had slept in a King size bed. The walls were painted a faint grey, and the room has an adjoining bathroom. I exited the room and walked down a familiar hallway. This was Andy's house. I walked into the living room where Andy was watching T.V.. He didn't look at me when I walked in. "Andy, um c-" Andy turned off the T.V. and got up from the couch. He took me by the shoulders and led me outside to the porch. We stood together on the porch together, facing each other. His blue ocean eyes were full of pain. Andy went back inside the house, closing the door in my face.
Andy's P.O.V.
I heard Hayley wake up. I quickly turned on the T.V. and pretended that I was watching it. I ignored her when she came into the room. I couldn't look at her. "Andy, um c-" I cut her off and grabbed her slender pale shoulders from behind. I led her outside, then shut the door in her face. Obviously if she was in love with this Josh guy, she couldn't stay at my house. A plan formed in my head. I knew just what to do. I called up Ashley. "Ash, go call Hayley, tell her we're going on a double date at 5:00." "Why can't you call her?" "She's not my date." "Dude, she was really drunk last night, it wasn't her fault, it's not like she cheated." "Just call her, Ash." I gave Ashley her number and in a few minutes he called back to say that she agreed. Now it was time to find my date. I need to make sure it's someone Hayley would be jealous of. Sophie. I met Sophie a few days before I met Hayley. She was a blonde, she had crystal blue eyes, and a perfect pearly white smile. I called her up, and she agreed. So at 5:00 I went to go pick Sophie up. She wore a pink short dress, showing off her tan legs. Her blonde hair was picked up in a up do. Wow. I wonder what Hayley would be wearing. Andy, she's not your date, don't worry about her. As I drove to the restaurant, Sophie kept on blabbing about cosmetics, and I honestly didn't care. "We're here." I parked and saw that Ashley was already here. They waited by the front door, and Hayley was quite a sight. She wore a silver short dress, and her hair in a side braid. Her eyes bulged when she saw who I was carting along. She grabbed Ashley, who wore a button down shirt and a bow tie, and put him in front of her, as if protecting her. Sophie had stopped in her tracks. "Williams?! What are you doing here?!!" Hayley peeked out from her hiding place. "I would ask you the same the thing, Velinda." She glared at me, her eyes full of betrayal. Oh dang. This was the girl who beat up Hayley!!! " Sophie, is that your name?" I turned to Sophie/Velinda who had planted her hands on her hips and was glaring at Hayley. "It's my middle name." She said still eyeing Hayley. Sophie looped her arm in mine, and Hayley looped her in Ashley's. It's on. We entered the restaurant, the air growing tenser by the minute. It was fancy, the table covered in silk table cloths and chandeliers. We sat at a table in the corner of the restaurant, next to the wall, and waited to order. Hayley sat across from Sophie, and I across from Ashley. "So how are things at school Sophie?" I asked, before things got really awkward. Even Jake would disapprove, and he is TOTALLY awkward. "Things are going well, we're putting on a fundraiser dance to raise money for more books in the library." Hayley's eyes got glazed over. Revenge is sweet. "That's cool. I always loved reading, Sophie. Do you want to go to that dance with me?" I asked casually. Hayley raised her eyebrow. "Sure, Andy. I would totally love to!" Then the waitress came to take our orders. Ashley and I ordered steaks, except Sophie, she ordered a salad. Hayley was still in her own little world. "Hayley." Ashley nudged her. She snapped out of it. "What." "Order." "I'm not hungry." She looked down at her feet. "Hayley, you got to have something." Ashley soothed. "Fine, um I'll take a steak, um rare, really rare." "Ok then." The waiter left with a confused look. "A rare steak?! Are you a vampire or something?!" Sophie chuckled. Hayley looked down at her feet again. "What color is your dress going to be?" I asked Sophie. "Um, excuse me. I need to go to the ladies room." Hayley jumped up from her seat, almost whipped the table cloth off the table, and practically ran to the bathroom. Ashley kicked me under the table. My phone suddenly alerted me of a text. It was Ashley. I looked at him, and he turned away. I opened it and read it. 'Look what you did to Hayley. You disgust me'. "What's her problem?! It's like she has explosive diarrhea or something. What a dork." Sophie laughed. I'm starting to fell really bad and guilty. I know Hayley has been through stuff, you can see it in her eyes, and the way she talked. I mentally shook my head. No. She brought this upon herself. She shouldn't have kissed Ashley. Sophie cleared her throat. "Oh, yeah, Andy, about the dress, I'm thinking the color should be a purple. Like a lavender purple, not a violet, violet purple looks like sh-" "I'm back!" Hayley sat back down. "Ok, nobody cares." Sophie mumbled. The waitress then came with our food. She set down the steaks and salad, looking at Hayley with a face of pity. We began to eat. The steak was really delicious. In the corner of my eye, I saw Hayley picking at her food. Sophie finished her salad before us, and sat there doing nothing. I draped my arm around her holding her close to me. I kissed her forehead, just in time to hear a screeching sound. "Sorry." Hayley had hacked away at the steak and almost cut the plate. I played with Sophie's lock of golden hair, and I saw Hayley twitch. "Andy, I'm cold." Sophie complained. I took off my leather jacket and placed it on her shoulders, then put my arm around her again. Hayley took a swig of her drink, which was (thank The Lord) unalchoholic. She choked and had a coughing fit. Ashley patted her back. "Hayley, are you okay?" Ashley asked. "Yeah, it just went down the wrong pipe." She continued to pick at her steak. "I'm finished." Hayley said a few minutes later. "But, Hayley you hardly ate anything." Ashley interjected. "I told you I wasn't hungry." Hayley said. "Are you going anorexic or something??" Sophie asked with a smirk. "No." Hayley said flatly. "Well I guess we're finished here." I said standing up. I called the waiter and payed the bill. Hayley, Ashley , and Sophie stood next to the table. "Ya know, I never really like the color orange." Sophie reached out and tugged Hayley's hair. "Don't touch me!!" Hayley screeched. Sophie let go, and Hayley grabbed her arm and pinned it behind her back. Sophie cried out in pain and fell to her knees. Ashley and I ran and tried to pull Hayley off Sophie. "Hayley! Let go of Sophie." I pulled her off . Hayley went back at Sophie who had gotten back to her feet with the help of Ashley, and pushed her on the table we just ate on. The table collapsed and everything fell to the floor, including Sophie. "Do you like the color orange now!!" Hayley kicked Sophie's nose. "Hayley what the heck??!!" I knelt down beside Sophie, who's nose had started to bleed. "She's a satanist!! She's an Emo, who slits her wrists!! She's anorexic!!! Go die!!!" Sophie screamed. Hayley looked around at the wreckage she caused. She flicked Sophie off, said a few choice cuss words, and ran away. "Yeah! Run away! Like the coward you are!!" Sophie yelled. I helped Sophie up, and me and Ashley paid for everything Hayley destroyed. After we dropped Sophie off, we headed back to my place. As Ashley stepped onto the porch, he whistled. "What a woman!" What a woman indeed.
Hayley's P.O.V.
I got home and fell back asleep. My phone rang, waking me up. I just got caller ID the other day and saw it was Ashley. "Hello?" I asked. "Do you want to go on a double date with me and Andy?" He asked. "Sure... Why didn't Andy call me?" I asked, confused. "He's not your date. I am." What! "Ashley what did I do last night? This morning Andy looked pretty upset." I asked. "Um, you kissed me??" Ashley offered jokingly. "Oh, does Andy get jealous often?" I asked. "No. So I'll pick you up at 5:00?" Ashley said. "Sure." I hung up. I leaned against the bedroom wall.I don't get it, this always happens. A guy shows affection to me, and I push him away. But when he finds another girl, he find that I have feelings for him. Josh. I looked at the clock, it was 30 minutes til 5:00. Great timing Ashley. I showered, and quickly slid into a dress that would make Andy want me back. I hope. I weaved my hair into a side braid. I lied down on the bed, and tried not to cry. Andy. Josh. Who do I have feelings for? I hurt Andy, but Josh hurt me. Andy wanted me, Josh didn't. Josh admitted he love me more than once, Andy never said a word. The doorbell rang. Ashley. I got up from the bed and us wrinkled my silver dress. "Hi Ashley!" I smiled, trying to sound cheerful. "Hey, Hayley. We're going to a fancy restaurant, is that okay?" Ashley asked. "Yeah." I looped my arm in his and walked down the driveway into his car. We started to drive. "Um, just a warning Hayley, Andy probably is trying to get revenge on you, with ya know his date." Ashley mumbled. My hopes dropped and shattered on the floor. "Um okay." "Just try and don't get your feelings hurt." Ashley said. "He hates me doesn't he. Everybody does anyways." A tear slid down my cheek. "No, Hayley, don't say that. I don't hate you, and neither does Andy. When he gets jealous, he gets really vicious." Ashley hugged her, trying to comfort her. Ashley parked in front of the restaurant and turned to me. "Just promise me, don't so anything dumb." "Why would I do something dumb??!" "Jealous girls sometimes do stuff that's dumb." "Dude, I go to Harvard, I don't do dumb stuff." "Well alrighty then." We got out of the car and waited by the entrance. Ashley and I talked about random stuff while we waited. "Andy's here." I looked up to see Andy's car parking. "I don't want to see his date." I turned to look away. "Well you're going to have to look at her during dinner." Ashley said. When I saw who Andy had brought, my life stopped. Time slowed. No. No. No. No.No.No.No. Her eyes fixed on mine, and it turned into an icy stare. I pushed Ashley in front of me, like a human shield. "Williams?!What are you doing here?!" Velinda stopped dead in her tracks. "I would ask you the same thing, Velinda." I shakily answered. I glanced at Andy, he was grinning a devilish grin at me. How could he? Of all people. "Sophie, is that your name?" Andy turned casually to Velinda. Sophie??!! When did she start going by that name??!! Last year she told me it sounded like a stripper name!! "It's my middle name." Sophie glared at me, and locked her arm in Andy's. My heart fractured just a bit. We went inside the restaurant, which was really fancy. We got a table next to a wall with a tablecloth. "So how are things going at school, Sophie?" Andy asked. My jaw virtually dropped. He must know that we go to the same school. Is he ignoring me??!! Classic. "Things are going well, we're putting on a fundraiser dance to raise money for more books in the library." Sophie's eyes lit up. Ha! Like she expects him to take her that dance! Ha HaH- "That's cool. I always loved reading, Sophie. Do you want to go to that dance with me?" Andy said. What! He probably just met her today!!! I gripped the tablecloth in my fist. Ashley slapped my hand, and gave me that look. The are-you-getting-jealous-don't-rip-the-tablecloth-or-else-you're-going-to-have-to-pay look. It's not a good look. "Sure, Andy. I would love to!" Sophie's voice sounded so happy. I used to be happy like that. But that was a long time ago. Josh made me feel that way. Can't deny it anymore. He's probably the only who was capable of loving me. The waitress came, but I was still thinking of Josh. Ashley nudged me. "What." "Order." "I'm not hungry." "You have to eat something." I sighed. "Fine, um I'll take a steak, um rare, really rare." I bit my lip. "Ok then."The waitress looked weirded out and left. I would be weirded out too. "A rare steak?! Are you a vampire or something?!" Sophie made fun. I don't like rare steaks either Sophie/Velinda. "What color is your dress going to be?"Andy asked Sophie. My heart shattered, and it was stomped on by Andy and Sophie/Velinda. "Um, excuse me. I need to go the ladies room." I flew to the restroom and didn't look back. I made it to a bathroom stall before I completely broke down. How could Andy do this to me?! Yesterday his eyes were full of love and today his eyes are full of hatred. I can't do this anymore! My life is too messed up. Andy and Josh have made me so miserable. I'm never too careful. I can't be too careful anymore. The urge of poetry sang to me. My dress had pockets and inside I found a pen (?). I grabbed a few piece of toilet paper a began to write.I settled down a twisted up frown
Disguised as a smile, well
You would have never knownI had it all
But, not what I wanted
'cause hope for me was a place uncharted and overgrownYou'd make your way in
I'd resist you just like thisYou can't tell me to feel
The truth never set me free
So, I did it myselfYou can't be too careful anymore
When all that is waiting for you
Won't come any closer
You've got to reach out a little more
More
More
More, moreOpen your eyes
Like I opened mine
It's only the real world.
A life you will never knowShifting your weight
To throw off the pain
Well you can ignore it
But only for so longYou look like I did
You resist me just like thisYou can't tell me to heal
And it hurts remembering
How it felt to shut downYou can't be too careful anymore
When all that is waiting for you
Won't come any closer
You've got to reach out a little more

More, moreThe writing made me feel better so I exited the stall and went back to the table, the piece of toilet paper in my pocket. "I'm back!" I sat back down. At that moment, the waitress came with our food. I looked at my steak with disgust. The steak was hardly cooked, but who am I to complain, I ordered it like that. In the corner of my eye I saw Andy snake his arm around Sophie's shoulder. He did that to me. I didn't notice I was still cutting the steak until I heard a screeching. I had almost cut the plate. "Sorry." I whispered. Don't let them get to you Hayley. Andy started to play with a Sophie's hair. My hand shook as I continued to cut the steak. "Andy, I'm cold." Really?! Really?! That why you should have brought a friggen jacket. I took a huge gulp out of my root beer and choked on a ice cube. Ashley patted my back. "Hayley, are you okay?" Ashley asked sincerely. At least he cares about me. The lovebirds across the table are glaring at me because I ruined their 'moment'. "Yeah, it just went down the wrong pipe." I didn't feel like eating anymore. "I'm done." I pushed the unbeaten piece of steak away from me. "But, Hayley you hardly ate anything." Ashley interfered. "I told you I wasn't hungry." I responded. "Are you going anorexic or something??" Sophie asked smugly. Finally someone noticed. I would have thought Ashley had said something, because he felt my bony back just a few minutes ago. "No." If I said yes nobody would have cared anyways. "Well, I guess we're finished here." Andy got up to pay the bill with the waiter. Ashley, Sophie, and I waited by the table. Sophie eyed my hair. "Ya know, I never really liked the color orange." She reached out and tugged my braid. "Don't touch me!" I yelled. I completely lost it. I grabbed Sophie's chicken leg of an arm and pinned it behind her back. Payback. She fell to her knees in agony. Payback for all the years she bullied me. "Hayley! Let go of Sophie!" I felt Andy's arms peel me off her. I resisted him, and went back after Sophie. I'll show Andy which girl he should choose. I grabbed Sophie's frail body and pushed her on the table. The table fell apart under Sophie's weight. "Do you like the color orange now!" I kicked Sophie's nose, and was satisfied with the crunch I heard. Andy knelt beside Sophie. "Hayley what the heck??!!" He looked at me, his eyes full of surprise, and hatred. I looked around at all the damage I caused. "She's a satanist!! She's an Emo who slits her wrists!! She's anorexic!! Go die!!" Sophie screeched. I doubled over with laughter. I flipped her off, cussed her out, and fled from the scene. "Yeah! Run away! Like the coward you are!" Sophie yelled. I ran away from the restaurant. A coward??!! You have no idea Sophie/Velinda. I ran all the way home, sweaty and tired. I took off my shoes and examined them. They were caked in dry blood. Well these need to be washed.
