Chapter 19

A/N: Here is another update for you! Enjoy! BTW sorry if it gets sloppy at the end but i was nearly falling asleep. I'm so tired i had to come back and add this authors note because I published it without one. Lmao

Maya POV

Lucas and I sat Gabe down last week and told him that work was going to have Daddy busy. He seemed to be okay with it. We explained everything the best that we could and made sure he understood there might be times where Daddy is unable to make it to a game. He seemed to do okay at first but as the days went on I began to wonder if he was putting on a show. He's my son after all and before I met the Matthews I remember I was good at putting on a show for people when really I wasn't okay. I realized that this might be hard on him because he was so glad that he had a Daddy that could go cheer him on at games.

Tonight Gabe was supposed to have a sleep over with Alex but at at about 9:00 I got a phone call from Alex's mom Erin telling me that Gabriel was crying wanting to go home. This was unlike Gabe because usually he loved having sleep overs and was very good about staying at other peoples houses. Plus the fact that he has been so excited about Alex's sleep over for his birthday party. It wasn't a big sleep over. Just Gabe and another boy named Jack were going to stay over after the baseball game that Alex's dad was taking them to. I tried to talk him into staying but he wanted me so I didn't want to push him any further. I went to get him and when we got home I took him to my room so we could snuggle. Lucas still wasn't home yet due to this case he'd been working on.

"Will you tell Mommy the real reason you didn't want to stay at Alex's for the sleepover?"

Gabe laid his head on my chest and started playing with my hair something he sometimes does when we cuddle. "I wanted to be with you Mommy."

"Are you sure that's all?" I said to him as I held him closely.

"Alex and Jack's Daddy took us to the Yankee's game." Gabriel said and then I kind of got an idea where this was headed.

"Did you guys have fun?" I asked him.

Gabe stayed silent for a minute then I heard him start crying. "I miss my Daddy." he cried.

I reached over and turned the light on so I could see him. I sat up in my bed and picked him up placing him in my lap. "I'm sorry baby." I said as I hugged him tightly.

"Alex and Jack were having so much fun with their Daddy's at the tame and my Daddy wasn't there." he continued to cry.

"You know what baby how about tomorrow night Mommy and you take Daddy some dinner at work." I suggested hoping that would make him feel better.

Gabe looked up at me and smile through the tears "Can we take him Pizza. It's his favorite." he asked me.

I smiled back at him and wiped the tears off his eyes "Of course. I'm glad you are home with me. We can snuggle and you can sleep with me tonight."

"I wish Daddy was with us." he said sadly.

"I know you do honey but Daddy's busy with work. Sometimes Daddy's job causes him to work a lot but he loves you very much."

"I know he does Mommy." Gabe replied.

I sat there holding Gabe for a minute trying to think of what I could do to cheer him up when a thought occurred to me that I could take the day off tomorrow to spend the day with him.

"How would you like it if Mommy stayed home from work with you tomorrow?" I said to him. "Maybe we could go see Mammy at work then pop in and see Daddy after."

"That would be fun, Mommy. I would like that." he smiled up at me and I could tell he was starting to cheer up.

"Me too. How about we cuddle and go night night then tomorrow its you and Mommy for the whole day."
