Newt had run to the beach, where he had been just in time to see Grindelwald apparate away with Tina in his arms.

He gritted his teeth. He apparated to Queenie and Jacob's room, knocking on the door. Queenie swung it open, walking out angrily. Well. Apparently Queenie had already read his mind.

"This is insane," Queenie said, throwing her hands up. "You finally get up the courage to propose to Tina- and then Grindelwald just goes and captures her! What even gives him the right to-"

"I'm getting her back," Newt said flatly. "This is going to be quick and easy. I'm calling in an old favor. This is going to be over today."

Queenie looked at him in surprise. "Well, make it good," Queenie said. "And fast. I'm pretty sure Grindelwald isn't pampering Tina over there."

Newt nodded and grabbed the phone. He heard it ring, and then heard someone pick up.

"Professor McGonagall here, how may I help you?" Minerva asked. Newt felt a bit of nostalgia flood through him.

"Yes, er, this is Mr. Newt-"

"Scamander," Minerva's tone changed, growing softer. "Well, you don't say. How can I help you?"

"Well, I wanted to know if Professor Dumbledore was there?" Newt asked. "It's important."

"I'll get him right away," she promised. "Hold on for a second, Mr. Scamander."

He heard shuffling of footsteps, and then heard a gruff voice pick up the phone.

"If this is the Ministry again, I'm hanging up-"

"Yes, sir, well, no sir, it's Newt Scamander, I'm not sure if you remember me but-"

"Well, what do you know," Dumbledore said, his voice suddenly a little happier. "Newt Scamander. What brings you to Hogwarts?"

"Funny story," Newt began. "Well actually it's not funny at all. Right, well-"

"Well this is ridiculous," Dumbledore interrupted. "We can't get down to the point unless I can actually see you. Hold still."

Newt froze, and then blinked. A wave a nausea overtook him, and he leaned forward. Suddenly, he was in Dumbledore's office again. Dumbledore was in front of him, holding the phone.

"How-"

"Magic, of course," Dumbleodre said.  "Go on. I believe this has something to do with your beautiful girl, that Goldstein girl?"

"You mean Tina?" Newt blinked. "How did you know about her?"

"Oh, well you must know, you and her are on the news all the time, ever since you released that book," Dumbledore said. "Though judging from your expression, you didn't."

He shook his head. "Well, anyways, Grindelwald-"

"Grindelwald." Dumbledore's tone became grave.

He nodded. "He's got Tina again."

"Again?" he asked. "Wow, I didn't know the dark lord had taken such an interest to you and her," he said suspiciously. "I guess this has something to do with your creatures?"

"Most likely," Newt agreed. "But we need to move fast, Professor. If you'll help me, that is," he added quickly.

"Well, of course," Dumbledore said gently. "Always did have a soft spot for you. And I'm assuming this will count as my favor to you?"

"Yes," Newt confirmed.

"I guess the students won't mind a day without their headmaster," Dumbledore decided. "Besides. This seems fitting to repay you giving me one of your creatures for Hogwarts," he said.
