14 - Love Not So Incredible

"It was ONE hug!"

"And one hug is enough to keep the people talking!"

Selena let out an exasperated groan.

"Especially when you were literally in the middle of paparazzi."

Selena rolled her eyes. Hayley on the other hand, simply sat there with her mouth shut. Usually when it comes to meetings like this, Hayley would defend their relationship and throw sarcastic remarks here and there. But right now, she doesn't know what to say or think.

She didn't even know what they are anymore.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

Hayley didn't reply and just kept walking. Staring at her worn out converse as she walked, she couldn't help but wonder...what the hell is happening?

She stopped in her tracks and turned to Selena, eyeing the folder in her hands.

How time passes so quickly. It seemed like it was only yesterday when it was the conditions to their secret relationship that was in those folders, now it was the second set of conditions to another fake relationship for publicity. Is this what she really wants? To live her life with the one that she loves without going outside?

"So who is it this time?" Hayley asked, her voice cracking in the end.

"Abel."

"The Weeknd? Damn, I think that's a good catch." Hayley commented, changing the tone of her voice.

"Where's the first sighting?"

"Um, it says here, anywhere but somewhere outside in the dark. It says that they'll message me the details."

"Ooh, mysterious, the dark huh? Getting some smooch?" Hayley teased and made kissing noises.

"It does say here..."

Hayley felt a quick stab through her heart but immediately recovered.

"Well get in there!"

"Stop it."

"Can we get some ice cream on the way back?" Hayley asked, completely ignoring Selena.

Selena let out a sigh. "Yeah, sure."

"Babe I'm gonna head out now. There's some pasta in the fridge."

Hayley heard Selena shout as she lay on the couch with her eyes closed, thinking, just thinking.

"Hayley..." Selena said softly, making Hayley open her eyes. Selena was kneeling next to Hayley, staring at her with her adorable puppy eyes and Hayley couldn't help but stare at them.

"I love you."

These words never failed to make her heart flutter. But Hayley was finding it difficult to say it back.

"I know you still don't forgive me and maybe you'll never will. But I will always love you."

Hayley averted her eyes to avoid her lover's gaze. Selena let out a sad sigh before hesitantly placing a kiss on Hayley's forehead. Surprisingly, Hayley let her. The feeling of her lips lingered on Hayley's skin, feeling the love and affection they've been giving to each other for the last two years.

Hayley was munching on some bowl of grapes and watching reruns of Orange is the New Black when her phone abruptly rang. She let out a groan before putting the television on mute and answering the call which was from Jonathan.

"I got you something, something different. So get up and put on something nice but not too nice, just casual."

"Well hello to you too."

"Hi. I'm already at the front. I'll explain everything on the way. You've got five minutes."

With that, Hayley rushed to the art room where her things were and threw on a olive green shirt, white jeans and a black snapback. Hayley had no idea where she was going but it made her more excited than usual.

"Hayley this is Alex Aiono, Alex this is Hayley Crawford."

"Hello, it is nice to meet you. You make great covers." Hayley smiled brightly while shaking his hand. Hayley studied his features as she did so, thinking that if she wasn't gay she would totally flirt with him right now.

After hours of arranging chords, messing around, and practicing the whole song, the two finally went infront of the camera and prepared their set up.

"You ready?" Alex asked, sending Hayley his signature smile.

"I'm nervous that I'm gonna mess up." Hayley adjusted her snapback a couple of times and brushed her hair consciously.

"It'll be fine. We can always do another take."

Hayley sighed and nodded. "Hold up, smile for me?"

Alex did so, smiling at Hayley who was taking a picture of him with her phone. She was putting it on snapchat. The whole time they were experimenting, Hayley was posting some teasers like a picture of their shoes, a muted video of her singing the song they were covering and a video of her messing around with her equipment.

As much as she loved teasing, she wanted to test out if Selena will react to it. Some of her fans had, thinking that she and Selena were making a song together. Seeing fans write their ship name or even just Selena's name made her heart ache a little but she was able to ignore it.

"Let's do this."

"Hey! So we just made an incredible cover of Love Incredible on Alex's YouTube channel. It's already up now so go check it out and subscribe to this talented young man."

Alex laughed and pose with Hayley for a second before Hayley ended the snap and put it up on her story.
