"Ma? What happened?Ano to?" she sat up on the bed and leaned on the headboard,pulling the sheet up her body.
Kunot ang noong tumingin siya sa lalake na nakangiti sa kanya.He seems to be older than her mother pero guwapo pa din at mukhang disente.Mestizo ito.
Tumayo ito and stood next to her mother.
Caroline raised one brow.
"Don't overreact.You passed out and John got you." sabi nito in an expressionless voice.
" Liv! Naku buti nahimasmasan ka na.Padating na si sir Brandon!" dinig niyang sabi ni manang Gilda na pumasok sa pintuan.Dala nito ang tsaa na pinabili niya.Inilapag nito sa lamesa malapit sa kama."Sige lalabas muna ako ulit." pagpaalaam nito.
There was an awkward silence when the help went out of the room.
The tall man cleared his throat bago nagsalita.
"Ako nga pala si John Paterno.Err...your mother's ..." hindi natuloy ang sasabihin nito when Caroline cut in.
"He is my special friend.He's a doctor." her mother said with a face that is also emotionless.
Napaawang ang bibig ni Olivia.
Nangiti naman ulit ng bahagya ang lalake.
"I am a GP ..hindi specialist kaya siguro kinakahiya ako ng mama mo." he joked .
Caroline rolled her eyes.
"Oh for goodness sake John! Yan na naman ang isyu mo?!" mataray na tanong ng mama niya.
Nailing na lang na hinawakan ng doktor ang kamay ni Caroline but didn't say anything.
"I was checking your pulse kanina kaya hawak ko ang kamay mo.Your mother said that you are pregnant.Did you eat anything this morning? " tanong nito sa kanya.
Binasa ni Olivia ang mga labi while looking at them.
Hindi siya makapaniwala.Madami siyang gustong itanong sa mama niya about her relationship with the doctor..but she just bit her tongue.
"I-I didn't eat anything." mahinang amin niya.
"Too nervous of getting married to your badass man? Maybe you are having cold feet?" sarkastikong tanong ng mama niya.
"Darling.." tawag ni John sa mama niya but Caroline just ignored him.
Napayuko na lang si Olivia.
"Look Liv..your mother and I went here to wish you well..." Caroline butt in again so hindi natapos ang sinasabi ng doktor.
"It was your idea not mine!" masungit na sabi nito sa lalake.
This time, John kissed the hand of Caroline maybe to mollify her.He looked intently at her and somehow it worked.
Her mother just rolled her eyes again but stopped talking.
John sighed then transferred his eyes again to Olivia.
Nakagat ni Olivia ang labi with what she is witnessing.Sobrang gentle at pasensiyoso ng doktor.Her mother's personality is very much different from his but somehow, whether Caroline will admit it or not..takot ito sa lalake.
"You shouldn't skip meals.I am sure you know that. We went here to give our best wishes to you and your fiance.Hindi siguro pwede pa ngayon but I am sure in the future we all can talk.Lalo na kayo ng mama mo." sabi pa ni Dr. Paterno.
