Chapter 28

Jerome

Before the high school could get out, I made sure I was already in the parking lot. Nolan and I were going to leave to head to Orlando for the convention was soon as he got out. He already had his bags packed, so I just had to stop by his house to pick them up.

It did take me a while to leave once I got there because Nolan's mom kept going on and on about how I need to keep an eye on Nolan and to make sure he called and to make sure he took his medication and to not leave him on his own.

It wasn't until Grayson came home that I was finally able to leave once he told Poppy to stop. I mean, I understood why she wanted to make sure I would do everything she told me to, but she kept repeating it over and over again.

When the bell rang to signal the end of the day, it took a few minutes for Nolan to finally walk out of the school and over to me. I smiled at him and pulled him into a hug, and he hugged me back. "Are we leaving right away?" he asked.

"Yeah, I already have your luggage in the car," I said. "A good thing too because I think if you went home to pick up your bags, your mom probably wouldn't let you leave."

"That's....probably true," Nolan said. "I lost count on how many times she kept trying to convince me not to go to the convention, no matter how many times my dad would tell her it would actually be good for me. She's just not use to being apart from any of her children for too long."

"Even though you're going to still be in Florida?" I asked.

"Yeah," Nolan said. "Oh, well. I will be calling my parents every night so they'll know I'm okay. And I will be with you."

I smiled at him and gave him a quick kiss before we got into the car to start driving to Orlando. The first stop we made was at McDonald's to get some food for the trip because even though I ate before I left, I could rarely have a car ride more than an hour without eating.

Nolan was on his phone while he was eating some fries. At one point, he snorted. "What?" I asked.

"Oh, well, I'm on Twitter and some told me to check out Dirk's latest tweet," he said. "So I did and it says 'Throwing shade at other people for views is ridiculous.' All the Jeromans thinks it's directed towards you."

"It sounds like it," I said right as Nolan started typing something. "What are you doing?"

"Giving my opinion," he said. "Well, kind of. I'm sending out my own cryptic-not-so-cryptic tweet."

       "And by that you mean....?"

Nolan shrugged and continued typing. "How does this sound? 'Saying someone is gay just for the views is ridiculous'?"

I raised my eyebrow. "Did you actually tweet that?"

       "I tweeted it."

"Note to self: Don't mess with a Prince. You do know he's going to fire back, right? And we are going to run into him tomorrow with some of the events going on. He isn't going to be happy."

"Oh well," Nolan said. "He's the one adding to all the drama. What are some of the events going on, anyway? You never told me."

"I have an email on my phone," I said, so Nolan picked it up and unlocked it before going to the email. "All the ones there are the ones we'll be taking part in."

"Ooh, these sound interesting," Nolan said. "Meet and greet, Q and A panel....Couples contest?"

"Yeah, in the Top Ten Favorite Couples video, the top five are all going to be there, so there's going to be a contest to see which couple knows each other the best," I said. "We better win that. Or at least not let Dirk and Cheryl win. But we better win."

"I think we'll do good," Nolan said before locking my phone and placing it back where it was siting.

"No, we can't do good," I said. "We have to do the best and destroy those couples."

       "You're too competitive."

"Of course I am. I want everyone to know how perfect we are for each other."

"You do know not everyone has to know how perfect we are, right? As long as we know that, it's fine."

"Don't be cheesy with me. It's a contest for a reason; there will only be one winner, and that winner has to be us, or at least not Dirk and Cheryl. He's only going to make an even bigger deal out of it if he does and I will not hear the end of it."

"Well, I do thing we have a chance of winning...."

"It isn't good just to have a chance. We have to be a shoe-in."

Nolan sighed. "Are you going to be like this the whole time until the contest?"

"Yes. So I'm going to test you now. What's my favorite color?"

       "Blue."

       "My favorite food?"

       "Poutine."

       "My favorite animal?

       "....Do you have a favorite?"

"Oh, now I'm insulted," I said.

       "Uh....A dog?"

"Okay, you're lucky. When's my birthday?"

"Come on, that isn't hard to forget."

       "Say it."

"December twenty-eighth. If you're going to test me, at least test me on stuff that I don't know for sure."

"Fine," I said. "How old....No, you know that. What is my....Nope, not that. How about where was I born?"

       "Lachine."

       "Ouch."

       "What? You weren't?"

       "Nope."

       "Then where were you born?"

       "Cascade, Seychelles."

       "What is Seychelles?"

"You've never heard of it?" I asked. "It's a country in Africa. That's where I was born. I lived there for, like, two years before moving to Canada. I went there on vacation once. It's really beautiful."

"How come I didn't know this?" Nolan asked.

       "Because you didn't ask."

"Well, you should have told me."

"I told you now. You better remember that from now on."

"How can I forget when my boyfriend technically lied to me?"

"What? I didn't lie to you."

       "You told me you're Canadian."

"Uh, I am. Both my parents were born in Canada. While I wasn't, that still makes me Canadian."

       "You still lied."

"I didn't. And don't say I did. But seriously, you better know everything else because I want to cream Dirk."

lol, I think I'm addicted to couple's contests. cx I've done, I think, two of them. One for Popson and one for Danstiny. AND NOW ONE FOR JERLAN YUS.

And I get way too distracted. I started this chapter a bit before 10 and now it's one in the morning. cx It never takes this long to write a chapter so short.
