(Part – 2) (UNEDITED)

Cherryl sat there, astounded, staring at the window still wondering whether the emotion she saw was really there in his eyes or it was just another fiction of her crazy brain. She flinched when someone placed a hand on her shoulder. Surprised, she peered up at the concerned face of the old woman.

“Are you alright, dear?” She asked as she helped Cherryl stand up.

Instead of answering her question, Cherryl nodded and turned her gaze towards the window again.

“W-What happened to him? H-how.. how can a person do that...? If I told someone that I saw a guy turn into some b-beastly creature they would lock me up in a mental asylum?” She snorted and shook her head.

“I guess now that you are here it’s time for you to know his story. Come, we’ll talk over a cup of a nice warm tea.” Hearing those words, Cherryl turned towards the kind woman.

She gave Cherryl a reassuring smile before taking her hand and leading her downstairs to the kitchen. She pulled out a chair for her and Cherryl flumped down without any further thought. Cherryl’s eyes followed the elderly woman as she settled the cups on the table and poured the steaming liquid in them. She looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to start telling her the story she wanted so eagerly to hear. Mrs. Faulkner smiled at her and pushed the cup towards her while taking a hold of her own. Cherryl sighed and grabbed her cup and took a sip, feeling calm instantly.

“This all started a long time ago… way back, when people believed in witches and magic, when we were normal just like you or any other human…

“B-But.. I-I have seen Damien around since high school.” Cherryl was surprised to hear that piece of information so she couldn’t help herself but wonder. Mrs. Faulkner only smiled at her before continuing.

“We have travelled across the world and we moved back here, to this town at that time only but we have lived for years. This is the castle where Damien was born. I still remember that day as if it was only yesterday. He was born after eight years of marriage of King Marcus Richards and Queen Ella. They were so happy to finally have heir to their throne. Damien’s birth was celebrated all over the kingdom. He was a very pretty baby and as he grew older he turned into a handsome boy. As more years passed he turned into a full grown handsome man and he captured attention of all the fair maidens everywhere he went…” Mrs. Faulkner chuckled lost in the old memory and Cherryl smiled seeing the old woman happy.
