"And Pepper is down for the count," Jane giggled, pilfering the wine bottle Pepper had taken as her own. She had even put a straw in it and began drinking it out of the bottle.
"Good, have the concierge make sure no more wine is to be sent to our room, just coffee and food." Sharon mumbled, leaning back against her chair. After our very relaxing message by a very handsome, and very gay masseuse, we all traipsed to the nearest boutique, grabbing shorts, shirts, bathing suits and underwear. Pepper wasted no time, getting us taken care of and wisked away to our hotel. We had all dressed quietly, Nat and Jane giggling as they pulled on their suits and headed downstairs to the white sandy beach that was right outside our room.
Sharon and I watched as Pepper finally stopped moving and drinking, finally allowing herself to shed tears. Her always stoic persona broke as she tossed the already waiting champagne bottle against the wall.
"Okay you really need to stop hanging out with me, you used to never throw shit." I huffed, thanking that higher power that the bottle didn't break.
"We're so entwined in each other's lives, where do I even begin to start moving forward on my own?" She sniffled, sitting down on the ornate venetian couch in the living room.
"Maybe you don't have too, everything Tony does, is with you in mind." Sharon relayed, kneeling down in front of her. "But if you can't live with the fact that there is no Tony without his suits, then maybe you should focus on your job, and keep creating all the wonderful things you have been."
"I just don't think there's room for me in his life, there never has been." Pep sighed, getting up and opening one of her shopping bags. She pulled out her navy blue bikini and headed into the bathroom. "No more crying, I don't want to think about anything but the sun and sand. That goes for you two, as well."So that's what we did, at least tried to do. My melancholy couldn't be hidden by alcohol or the bright sand and cool waters, neither could Pepper's. Jane, Sharon and Natasha were having a blast, playing in the water, drinking mixed drinks in their beach chairs, talking about places they've been in the last few months, and work.
For Pepper and I this was just a pitstop on the way to bitter town. I didn't want to think about the way my stomach heaved when I imagined getting the rest of my stuff out of the apartment, or about what Pep had said earlier, about being so entwined in each other's lives that there was no clear cut way to leave. Underneath the protection of my $200 sunglasses I shed my tears, because this was actually happening, I was going to have to live my life without the one thing I wanted most in the world, because he could obviously live without me, he had been...."What do you think the guys are doing?" Nat asked Jane, glancing back at Pepper and I.
"Who knows," Sharon smiled, shaking out her blonde hair, and soaking up the sun."Okay they have the penthouse suite, which is the whole top floor. We will be there within the hour." Tony said, fidgeting in his seat as his hired driver drove through the busy streets of Greece.
"Maybe we should of waited till they arrived back home," Thor added, shifting in his new human clothes. He looked like tourist in his beige slacks and loose blue buttonup.
"No, I need to find (y/n) now," Bucky growled, dialing her phone again. He was so angry and hurt that she would think something like that. That he didn't love her... and to say what she said about him and Steve, really pissed him off.
"If you break another phone, you can buy the next one." Tony snapped. "You've been acting like an asshole all day, what's wrong, besides our girlfriends packing up and leaving?"Steve's eyes met Buck's, he knew why, and even he was a little miffed at the message (y/n) left.
"None of your goddamn business." Bucky growled, seething in his seat.
"So it doesn't have anything to do with her pickup parked at my facility with her shit in it, or a message that had you and Steve in an unsavory position?"
Bucky almost leapt at Tony, and would have if Steve and Thor hadn't held him back.
"Tony, James, enough!" Bruce yelled, his eyes slightly changing green. "All of us, yes Thor even you, have neglected and marginalized those that we care about most. That's why we are here, to tell them, show them, do anything to let them know that we love them."
The anger in the large limo lessened, as Bruce continued, "each of them Nat, Jane, Pepper, Sharon and especially (y/n) know that what we do is important, and their loyalty has never wavered until now. Maybe we should be asking ourselves why, instead of beating each other up."
"Agreed," Steve huffed, patting Bucky on the back.
