Mara woke to hissing. The mermaid that she had saved, was holding her body to her and hissing at someone that Mara could not see.

Mara twisted out of the mermaids grip with caution. She caught a glimpse of red hair before the mermaid pulled her back into her arms. . "Peter?" She asked.

"Mara! Thank god! Where have you been?" Peter asked.

"Long story." Mara mumbled. "Hey, uh, I don't know your name, but can you let go? Peter's a friend. He won't hurt you." She asked the mermaid.

The blonde looked at Peter, then at Mara, before gently setting her in the sand and watching carefully.

Peter walked closer. "Do you know how worried Molly was? She didn't know where you were until we found James. James was worried too you kn... My god... What happened?" Peter sat down next to Mara.

"Oh this?" Mara pointed at her face. "Had a bit of a scuffle with some pirates. Then some trees." Mara laughed.

Peter flicked open a locket. Molly's locket, to be precise. Mara grabbed Peter's wrist. "Peter, no. Don't waste starstuff on something like this! It's not important."

"Of course it it!" Peter argued, pulling his wrist out of her grip and pouring it over her.

Three mermaids popped out of the water, dragging themselves onto the beach, hissing. Peter tried to scramble away, pulling Mara with him, but the blonde mermaid made a deep throated sound, which stopped the mermaids from advancing.

A fourth mermaid surfaced. She made rapid throaty sounds that made the other mermaids dive into the water, even the blonde one mara had saved.

Peter and Mara stood, looking down the beach. At the water's edge, they saw the trunk. It was unmistakeable. Light glowed through the cracks.

Mara raced towards it first, Peter following close behind. Mara ran her hands along the wood.

"We found it, Peter!" Mara grinned. Rapid urgent sounds drew their attention towards the mermaids desperately trying to drag themselves onto the sand, waving their arms.

"What is it?" Peter called out to them, not noticing that Mara had collapsed into the sand next to him. "What... MARA!" Peter turned to see his friend on her side in the sand. That was the last thing he saw, before his vision went dark.

Mara woke to lips being pressed against her own. Water rushed past her face, and she was sure she was dreaming. She was being held in strong arms, swimming towards the surface. James and Molly were attacking Slank.

Mara turned to the mermaid. "I need to get that trunk. Can you take me over there?" The mermaid nodded, swimming closer to the beach.

Mara grabbed the trunk, and slipped into the water with it. He mermaid grabbed ahold of Mara and help push them over to where the blonde mermaid and Peter were waiting.

Mara clambered onto the rock jutting out of the water, pulling the trunk with her. Peter was already up there. "They have James and Molly and the boys!" Peter looked like a wreck. "What are we going to do?"

Mara smiled. "I, have a plan."

She explained her plan, and soon, everything was complete.

Mara and Peter opened the trunk, and together lifted the gold box out. They set the box in a corner, hidden by rocks.

Peter and Mara sat down for several moments, feeling the power of the starstuff.

Then they lifted the trunk and tipped the extra starstuff next to the box.
