It was freezing cold, and the December rain seemed it was not going to stop any time soon. Mary sighed to herself while thinking about her cozy, warm, tiny appartment. She was walking home from her last class of the day. She was quite pleased with the grade on her final exam before her Christmas break. "Christmas..? Just another holiday break alone." She thought. Mary tried not to linger on the depressing subject while dodging puddles as she walked. Suddenly Mary heard two gun shots ring out in the distance. She paused to listen for more, she heard nothing. As she quickly approached her appartment, she heard a slight groan in the alley. She paused and heard it again. Going against her better judgment, she slowly walked toward the sound. "Heee.. Hello..?" She heard the noise again. Mary saw a slight movement in the back corner of the alley. Her voice of reason and her  conscience was in a heated argument as she approached the unknown sound. "What if it's a murderer, rapist..?"

"Yeah, but what if it's some poor victim that  was robbed and bleeding to death? And besides, your studying the medical field, we might can help?" Mary heard the man groan a little louder and rushed to his side to see what was the cause of his distress. "Sir..? Are you okay?"  That's when she heard the sicking click of a revolvers hammer being pulled back.

With a smooth low voice, the injuried man made his threat, "If you fucking scream, your dead."
