Chapter 40

Mary gagged as she held her hair back while bending over the toilet. It had been seven weeks since Joker was thrown back into Arkum. She heard rumors of him busting out with the help of his shrink. Mary eased herself off the bathroom floor when she heard tapping on the door. It was Oswald, "Mary dear.. Are you alright?"

Mary whipped her mouth, "Yes. Thank you!"

Oswald was hesitant to leave but knew she needed her privacy. "I'll be in the breakfast room if you need anything."

Mary cringed at the thought of food. "Ok.. Thank you." She emerged from the bathroom and changed into her day clothes and headed down to the breakfast room. 

As soon as she walked into the room, the smell of food hit her nose and stomach like a brick wall. Mary covered her mouth and ran to a near by trashcan and started to vomit. Oswald quickly rushed to her side as he held her hair back. When Mary was finished she started to cry, "I'm sorry.."

Oswald looked at her with sympathetic eyes and hugged her. "It will be ok." Mary sobbed. "How far are you?"

Mary spoke between sobs, "Eight or nine weeks."  

"You need to see a doctor." 

Mary shook her head, "I'll arrange it." Oswald rubbed her shoulders as he beamed at her. Mary was puzzled, "What?"

"You'll be a wonderful mother."

Mary started to sob again as she hugged Oswald. 

With Oswald pulling some strings, Mary booked an appointment that day. The doctor told her everything looked fine and gave her a picture of her tiny miracle. As Mary was leaving the doctors office lobby. Her mouth dropped as she saw the news. "Joker escapes from Arkum". Mary stood in shock as she read the caption below. "With the help of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, the mast murderer has escaped once again." Mary clinched her fist as she read the woman's name over and over. She felt anger more than anything. Mary knew it was over, but not before she had a little fun. She floored the gas peddled and squealed into the Smile and Grin Parking garage. As she opened her car door, she heard his cackle; her heart stopped. Mary's expression turned cold. She noticed the baseball bat that Frost had used before. She picked it up as she headed to the voices. 

Frost and Joker was around the corner discussing the break out. "So the blonde didn't know what was coming?" 

Joker slicked his hair back as he tilted his head side to side, "Yeah well ya know."

"Know what?"

Frost and Joker spun around to see was ease dropping. Joker gave her his preditor look. "There's daddy's girl." He took a step towards her. Mary stepped back and pointed the bat at him. Joker gave a sarcastic look, "Miss Parker? Are you feeling well? You look as pale as me and your skin and bones. Is this because you been missing me?"

Mary shook her head, she was on the verge of angry tears, "I've been sick." Shit why did I tell him?

Jokers expression lessened. "Come on cupcake. Let me see ya." 

Mary took a step back. "Did you fuck her?"Jokers face went blank. Mary's chest heaved, "Did you fuck her??!!!"

Joker rolled his head, "I had to Sweetness to get back to you."

Mary's face went blank, something had snapped. "Oh, well if that's the case.." Joker took a step closer but stopped as she swung her bat. "Don't fucking touch me..(Swing) ever.. (Swing).. Again..!"

Frost stepped up, "Mary, please.." 

Mary glared at Frost, "Yeah take up for your boy now! Don't be a cock block while the wife's not around... Traitor!! " (Swing) Frost leaned back as he doged her bat. "Don't worry. I'm leaving. Have a wonderful fucking life!" 

The two men looked at her in disbelief. Joker took a step to chase after her, but Mary shot a look at him that could turn him to stone. Frost and Joker watched as Mary left. They looked at each other in silence until Joker broke the ice, "She'll be back." Suddenly the Lamborghinis car alarm was going off. As the two men ran to see what happened they heard a familiar chuckle. Joker put his hands on his head, "What the fuck!" Mary had plunged the baseball bat in the middle of the cars windshield. They turn and watched her SUV spin out of the drive as Mary gave them the bird.

Mary signed with relief, "Holly shit! That felt good!"

Back at the parking garage frost noticed a picture where the SUV was. He was shocked as he picked it up. It had Patient: Mary Parker 9weeks. Frost spoke under his breath, "Shit." Joker had already spun out to chase after her before he saw the discovery. Frost placed the pic in his coat pocket and waited for the outcome.
