Grace was waiting for me when I stepped outside of Wellington's female correctional facility. She was leaning on her car, one hand shielding her face from the sun as she aimed her gaze on the building. When she saw me at the top of the steps, a huge grin emerged on her face, and I felt one of my own appear. And then I was running, and I didn't stop until I reached her and threw my arms around her.
It felt amazing.
The first thing we did was go home and eat lunch. Spaghetti and meatballs had never tasted so good.
We're leaving tomorrow, after I fulfill my promise to Julia and we visit Mom to let her know that we're moving away for a fresh start.
Grace and I are sleeping in the living room tonight. We decided that we've been separated too long and a movie marathon is in order. So we grabbed our sleeping bags, a huge bowl of popcorn, and about ten movies. I'm sure we'll both be asleep by movie number two, but, hey, we set our bar high.
Grace is calling me. Gotta go!
