*Still Leighton Marissa Meester as our dear dear Ruby*

Some days later, we were eating dinner when my phone beeped, i picked it up to check why it had beeped and I saw an email. I opened it up, putting down my fork as I read the main message,

Subject: Job Application Received

Dear Miss Collins,

We are so sorry we could not get back to you on time, but we would like to offer up the position of the Training and Development Manager to you if it's okay by you.

The salary will be as discussed during the interview.

We expect you to resume next week monday by 8:00 a.m. Thank you.

President Blaine Liam,
Liam Technologies.

I didn't know when I shouted,

"Thank you Sweet Jesus."

"What happened?" Dad asked as he and Mum lift their eyebrows in curiousity,

"I have just been offered a job at Los Angeles."

"Los Angeles!" Mum exclaimed in surprise,

"Why that far?" Dad asked,

"Mum, it's not that far. Plus I will be coming to check you oldies."

"Heather left, Chloe left, you are leaving too. This house is going to be so empty."

"Mum, Chloe is just about 4 hours away from here same as Big Sis. You are overreacting."

"Honey, we could always go visit them or we can make a new baby to keep your mind off them." Dad butted in and Mum swatted his upper arm as I laughed,

"Mum, that's true, you could visit each of us from time to time and Dad is here to keep you company and if his presence is not enough, I personally think you should consider his operation new baby option."

"Like father, like daughter." Mum said as she picked up her fork and resumed eating,

"Okay, let's get serious, when are you leaving?"

"I was told to start work on Monday morning and today is Wednesday, so maybe tomorrow or the day after."

"All right, let me talk to my contacts there and see how we can arrange things up like your apartment and car and all."

"Okay Daddy, thanks, you are the best Dad in the world. I love you." I replied smiling, I knew my Dad have some people he did business with in Los Angeles. He would be retiring from work next two years to be a full-time pastor in the church.

"I love you too. What is the name of the firm that hired you again?"

"Liam Technologies, Dad." I said as he nodded chewing his food. I knew he was already thinking. Dad is the best parent one could have in the male species because he always make sure we the kids are comfortable and he goes to any length to make this happen but sometimes he leaves us to our own to get to our destination saying that way, we know what it feels like to do this or to do that. Just like my job hunting experience.

On Friday, my bags packed, I was trying to call for a taxi when Mum and Dad came into the sitting room and I was wondering for they were dressed up so I asked,

"Where are you both off to?"

"You don't think I was going to let my daughter go all the way to Los Angeles by herself, right? We are getting you there." Mum said as she twisted her scarf round her neck

"Oh Mum! Dad! You need not worry. I will be fine." I said trying to calm them,

"We know you will but we've got to do what we've got to do." Dad said as he picked up one of my bags,

"Thanks." I said as we all moved into Dad's car and off he drove. I was surprised to see him pull up at the airport. What are these people up to? I asked no one in particular as we proceeded to be checked and verified.

Soon we were on the plane and I asked finally,

"Dad, Mum, what are you up to? You did not tell me we were going to board a plane."

"We decided to make it a surprise because you would have protested if we suggested it."

"Yes and who knows, Mr Right might actually be at Los Angeles and I wouldn't want him charming my daughter by being the first to take her on an airplane ride."

"Mum!" I exclaimed as Dad laughed and I looked out the window, all the buildings kept getting smaller as we went higher.

A bit after five hours, the plane landed and we all got out, retrieved my bags as we approach the person holding up the Butler's card. We got into the taxi and soon we were at Apartments Complex, a tall building with lots of apartment. We went in and I let Dad speak since he was the one that arranged it all. I was given the keys to my apartment, Number 32. I wondered briefly who would be my neighbor as we went up to the room.

It was painted white, with blue and green in some places. A big bedroom with a closet, toilet and bathroom and a sitting room with a kitchen. The kitchen has a round table with three chairs where I could sit with family or friends to eat.

Friends? I doubt if I will ever make a friend here. My past made me a loner, not wanting to talk too much or socialize too wild and that earned zero to no friends without counting my lovely sister, Chloe who is my best friend of course.

With my parents help, I arranged my stuffs and then we went out to get me groceries and other necessities. I stole a look at my workplace on our way as Dad pointed it out. It was a fifteen minutes walk from my apartment and a five minutes drive.

I cooked dinner and I let my parents crash in my bedroom while I sprawl out on the sofa. They left the next morning.
