Julie

I let the matter be for a week then I swung into action. After Church on Sunday, I kept my eye on Ethan as I also tried to concentrate on the quick meeting I was involved in. Immediately after the meeting, I went straight for him. He was speaking with one of the Visiting Pastors. I waited patiently a couple of steps behind him. Within minutes, he was through and he turned to leave only to see me,

"Juliet Beckham!"

"You just like making me blush to the sound of my name coming from you."

"Oops. Making you blush? I hope Bruce ain't around to hear that because I know for sure he could have my head for dinner."

"Funny, how are you doing?"

"I am doing fine and you?"

"I am doing okay. How was the service today?"

"Glorious as always."

"Thanks be to God." I said as he slid his hands into his pockets,

"Well, let's cut the pleasantries and get on with this. I wanted to talk to you about Ruby."

"Juliet! There is nothing to talk about as regarding that issue." He said and made to turn away but I immediately fasten my hands round his wrist and asked,

"Will you just hear me out?" He turned back to me and I took a seat and pointed him to one which he used reluctantly before saying,

"Really Juliet, I don't know what else is wprth talking about in this matter. Your friend has made it crystal clear that she does not want anything to do with me otherwise she won't be chasing me away at every chance she gets."

"Ethan, just chill already okay? Ruby likes you, I know that so well but she has issues, I am telling you this because you are a Christian,  she has being abused ... in her past." I said, tryst me to open my big mouth and blab but it was worth it because Ethan's nonchalant face creased with concern as it met my eyes,

"So, why do I have to be the one being punished for the guys in her past's offence? I am human too, she could just take it easy with me."

"Hmm, Ruby has not really being in a relationship or with a guy so it is difficult for her."

"So, what do I do now?"

"Good, you guys should just call each other already and start your fairytale."

"You mean I should give her a call? Nope ma, I can't do that, the last thing I want is to be rejected again. If she cares, let her call me. That way, I will know I am no longer a nuisance in her life."

"Guys and their ego! Do you like her?"

" Are you seriously asking me that?"

"Okay, I just asked that to be sure, give her time Ethan, she will come around. Thanks for talking to me." I said as I stood up and he did the same.

"I should be the one appreciating you. You are a good friend, Juliet."

"Come on, that's the least I can do for you two morons." I said laughing as I walked away feeling triumphant.
