Looking back
Feel an inadvertent smile take hold of your lips
Sighing
Not knowing why at first
Not recognizing it
Becoming embarrassed at the foreignness of the emotion
Rubbing the back of your neck
Him taking the empty space at your right side
His smile echos your own
Your fingers find his
They lace, involuntarily
Thinking to yourself
That you never deserved the one that stands in front of you.
Thinking of all the hope that he brought out in you,
Hope that you didn't even think you possessed.
Glancing in a different direction,
Not wanting him to see your eyes
Not wanting him to see the emotion that has become physical
His fingers find your chin
They gently guide your eyes back
And when you are looking back
All the songs
All the poems
All the stories
All the quotes
All of everything
Makes sense.
