Anchor - Poem 74

You are in a kiddie pool,

Splashing and laughing.

Then there is too much water for the kiddie pool,

You move to and normal pool.

As you smile,

You find yourself deeper in the pool.

Still you have no worry and continue to support those around you.

Soon you are in the ocean,

And as the wave become more restless,

You are under the water momentarily.

Now you only see the dark water around you,

The feet of those you once laughed with swam above you.

You reach for the surface,

To desperately swim to the laughter of the ones you love.

And you realise you are drowning.

You are drowning because you never saw

How heavy the burden of being their anchor could be.
